I just installed Steam on my main machine and after jumping through hoops to recover my password , I got logged in..

Okay that's good , so I start browsing around and find a few games to try out , but They don't work???? error - wrong platform something , These are Windows games!!!!! Am I missing something here ?? where are the Linux games on Steam??? If I installed a Linux version of steam , Why am I only seeing Windows games??

@Jasonbc

You have to take the games where it says SteamOS + Linux

Yes, the Steam version for Linux is not really getting supported.
It is still a 32bit program and it really is only to get connected to their web site.

They have quickly found, that the money is in Windows based games, not Linux based games.

The same is true for the people that develop computer games.

You can still find Linux based games on Steam, but as you have found, they are not going to be the same quality, as you can find for Windows based.

Because of all the different versions of Linux operating systems.

I have found, not all the Linux based games, may work, on whatever Linux OS, you are using.

Welcome to Linux software! :roll: :welcome:

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

I know nothing of steam personally but.... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... =302338092 Explains running windows version of Steam in WINE. I hate it when there is a linux version something but its either ancient or its some super bloated SNAP only pkg or whatever. Or they expect you to run everything via WINE. Still if WINE works... probably best way to go.

Seriously if they expect you to do WINE + whatever, they should make a complete appimage pkg of WINE plus their software and make sure it works. Still pisses me off royally that Amazon is too lazy to at very least make sure their latest Kindle4PC software works in WINE. Doesnt cost them anything, just make sure they dont use garbage not supported in WINE. Or if they gotta use garbage, then contribute to adding support to that officially in WINE.
