You might want to make an adjustment to the link. Instead of this:
Code: Select all
https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linux_Rerwin_Repository/simple_network_setup-3.5.1.pet
I get this link in my FF browser, which doesn't work:
Code: Select all
https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linux_Rerwin_Repository/simple_network_setup-3.5.1.pet%5Burl%5D%5B/list%5D%0A%5Blist%5DSimple_network_setup-3.5:%20%20%5Burl%5Dhttps://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linux_Rerwin_Repository/simple_network_setup-3.5.pet
Would it work better without the forum markup tags?
Thanks.This url works for SNS v3.5.1: https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linu ... -3.5.1.pet
edit: indeed the link on top of first post does not.

@Governor, @fredx181,
Thanks for bringing the SNS-3.5.1 archive link problem to my attention.
I have now corrected the link.

Updated Network Managers and ConnectWizard Released
Network_connect_update (connectwizard+), SNS, Network Wizard and Frisbee have now evolved so that the user can seamlessly switch among network managers, including ConnMan and PeasyWiFi and their associated network monitor icons. They were developed to support BookwormPup in addition to earlier Pups.
The new packages, at viewtopic.php?p=2241#p2241, are:
network_connect_update-20240611
simple_network_setup-3.5.2
network_wizard-3.0.2
frisbee-4.0.4
Note that the "default connect" option is provided by only the legacy network monitor, so is not offered by connectwizard if the active network manager is ConnMan or PeasyWiFi. However, if it is set to ConnMan or PeasyWiFi and a "connect" icon exists on the Desktop, clicking that icon will start those managers (and their monitors) even if the active manager is different. The "Internet Connection Wizard" Setup menu item will always start connectwizard.
These packages have been submitted and merged into woofCE. They also work on older Puppy distros (BionicPup+).
As usual, please report any misbehavior of these packages here.

@rerwin
I do not know if any of your applications include WPA Supplicant ( ...... I know it is included in the OS) and see there is an update to build 2.11 which includes support for Wifi 7.
I have attempted to compile it myself in JammyPup64
Firstly, create a .conf file then proceeding to to compiling.
It fails for me and informs it requires libnl (compiled this as well!)
still does compile correctly ... WPA Supplicant that is.
.................. all besides the point ...... Will your suite of connectivity applications need to include this update?

@Jasper,
Wpa_supplicant is not part of the "network connect" group. It is provided by the distros, so will get updated as they upgrade.
If it provides new capabilities that Puppy needs to use, there could be an impact on interfacing with it. If you are aware of changes a user (Puppy) needs to make, please be sure I know about that. I have no information on such a need.

@rerwin
Thank you for the clarification
The application would be useful for connection to the 'next-gen' router hardware.
If and when required, I will add to your thread!
No rush here

Re: Puppy Network Managers -- dhcpcd for NoblePup64s
Thanks to rerwin's advice, https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic. ... 22#p133622, installing dhcpcd via synaptic enable the use in NoblePup64s of his networking applications provided on this thread.
To make the life of others perhaps simpler, I've attached the necessary deb. Remove the false .gz needed to upload to the Forum.
Installation of rerwin's applications does not create a taskbar launcher. For now, I've added Internet Connection Wizard to a Launcher. This issue is discussed on the above thread where dimkr suggested a solution. But checking the link to github revealed that I will need to (a) SFS-Load Noble64's devx.sfs [which currently will require a reboot] so that I can compile. This being my first effort at compiling, wish me luck.
