How to add Rox desktop bars?

I can't recall how to create additional menu bars (icon lists at desktop edges)
on the desktop in JWM / Rox file manager.

Any hints?

I'm sorry. I don't understand your question. Could you provide a screenshot from a Puppy which has them to show what you mean.

Mike, I think RSH is referring to JWM/ROX's ability to add extra 'task bars' (like the standard one across the bottom OR top of the screen, depending on preference). I've never tried it myself, but from what I understand ROX can add these up the sides of the screen, too.......if the user wants them.

I'm not entirely sure how you add them, however. I'm probably wrong, but am I right in thinking that JWMdesk can do this.......i.e., the 'Accessory Tray' on the 'Options' tab?

@RSH , with XFCE it is really easy, you have an option to do this (there are photos of my desktop with these bars)

With JWM I think you can define a new tray by adding a <Tray> section in your JWM configuration file.

rox -b bottom_panel # show panel at the bottom
rox -t top_panel # show panel at the top
rox -l left_panel # show panel at left
rox -r right_panel # show panel at right

Panel setting is persistent. You can close it, and re-open it later and the settings will be kept.
"bottom_panel", "top_panel", etc are just names and you can call it any name that you want.

This discussion seems to suggest that what is wanted is an additional panel like the default 'Taskbar', but on a different edge. That's managed by JWMDesk's GUIs.

Menu>Desktop>JWMDesk. Left-Click the "Options" at the top of the GUI. Put a check-mark in the box next to "Launch Bar" under Accessory Panel.

I usually leave the choice at 12: It automatically grows/shrinks as you add/remove Launchers. After the panel is created, click the Tray-2 "button" at the bottom to configure the panel.

Yah, RSH. I sympathize. It's easy but getting started is not intuitive. I remember stumbling a lot the first time I worked with the new GUI.

OOTB JWMDesk only supports 2 panels. I wonder if using the recipe MochiMoppel suggested others could be added. I'm not going to experiment as (a) don't know why I would want a 3rd panel, and (b) such third panel would have to be manually configured.

The thing about the rox bars is that they work with different OS's and desktops.

For instance I'm playing with a Rox panel in KLV-Airedale using Xfce.

Airedale's Rox is not "pimped-out" with lots of right click options like many of the puppies. But the cool thing is you can customize Rox a lot on your own.

I created a panel using rox -b places, on the bottom and dragged in my commonly accessed directories.

Of course clicking the icon in the panel opens the directory in Rox. But by simply creating symlinks of different file managers' .desktop files found in /usr/share/applications to /root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/SendTo/inode_directory, I can instead, right-click on the directory and open it with any of the file managers/browsers seen below, xfe, pcmanfm, mc, ranger, thunar, or librewolf

Pretty cool, and though I've used these panels quite a bit in the past, it never occurred to me to set it up like that before. Rox is really versatile.

I had in the past experimented with manually adding and configuring additional JWM Trays. I'm satisfied with the 2 trays that JWMDesk provides, just checked to see how it would look.

This icons disposition is really useful (4me) when working and minimizing clicks is important.

Top bar with virtual desktops, Opera and Slimjet and clock -PupShutdown

The bottom bar is MAC style with YACHT (I don't remember if this is the name of this Mac style bar, @nilsonmorales can tell u the correct name)

Lateral bars are dedicated to soft (modifications depending of the labour, haha).
