Is there Key I can press to Force Delete without clicks?

Post by theroar84 »

In Windows I can hold Shift and Delete an item without confirmations. Is there a key I can hold while choosing delete in puppy to get a similar experience? I have tried Shift, but no joy...

Currently I have to click these after choosing delete.

Running Fossa64 9.5 Multiple PC's Frugal Installs on EXT4 hard drives. Multiple Frugals per PC too.

@theroar84 :-

Um....okay. From what I can see of it, you CAN make this process simpler - there's a setting within the ROX 'Options' window - but it's not one I'd recommend, since it makes it all too easy to accidentally delete stuff you may later decide you should have kept!

Go into the ROX 'Options' window (rt-clk any desktop icon -> ROX-Filer -> Options...). From the left panel, select 'Action Windows'. In the right panel, where it says "Auto-start (Quiet) these actions", tick the delete checkbox. Normally, this is left unchecked BY DEFAULT.....for safety's sake. Now 'OK' the change.

What you can now do is:-

For double-click operation, one click (to select).....then hit the 'Delete' key. Poof! Gone.....

For single-click operation, Ctrl + click (to select) -> Delete.

Me, I never got into the habit of using the 'Trash' app.....but I do leave the confirmation activated. At least it forces me to think before I commit myself..!

Mike. ;)

Delete in Puppy (Rox file manager) is delete, it is gone. :!:

It does not go into trash like Windows or other OS's file manager do.

To go into trash.
An item is drag and dropped onto the Puppy trash icon, on the desktop.

Some Puppy versions may have a trash option in the Rox right click menu.
Still goes into the Puppy trash.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o
