Missing icon in systray program (it's my own Noble 64bit Woof-CE built)

Post by RSH »

Hi.

This is my own Noble 64bit Woof-CE built Puppy version.

In systray there's a program that shows connected / disconnected when hovering mouse over.
But its icon is not visible.

Anyone knows

- the name of this program?
- where it's being started?
- the name of its icon?
- how to fix his?

Thanks

Thanks.

On my side it is: connman-ui-gtk and connman-ui-gtk.bin.
But there is no such path (usr share icon theme scalable status 24) and no such icon (network-idle-symbolic.svg).

Could you please post the full path including the slashes / and attach the icon to the post?

Thanks.

What specific Puppy version you using????????

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

I see icons for Connman in /usr/share/connman_ui_gtk/icons

Maybe the icon on your system is the same color as the main system tray and therefore not visible?

That is right.
I am testing Noblepup64. I changed the color of the taskbar to "Flat Gray," and the icon became visible.

It's a new created Woof-CE Puppy from Ubuntu Noble 24.04.

Created by who and where is it available to download?

Most likely something is missing in it.

We do not even know for sure what is controlling what is in the desktop tray.

Is it this?
NoblePup32-24.04-240621.iso

Or this one?
NoblePup32-24.04-240602.iso

Or this one?
NoblePup32-24.04-240518.iso

What??????

@bigpup
No, it's my own Noble 64bit Woof-CE built.
There's nothing official to download yet.
I stored it at archive.org but currently only @greengeek has got
a link to download by PM - for testings on other machines.
But it's not yet downloaded as it seems.

I'm trying to create a new LazY Puppy.

@Feek

I see icons for Connman in /usr/share/connman_ui_gtk/icons

Thanks. I found this already by searching the system using pFind.
So, I grabbed it and copied it into all locations having Icons as content.
Also to all locations having directory status.
Now there's an icon, but only a small dot seems to be visible.

I have the dark JWM tray.
However, i liked the old one from bionic.
It does give lots of information when hovering mouse over.
As there is: active interface, download traffic, upload traffic and IP address.
The one in Noble only says: Connected!

Not very noble!

Yes I have downloaded it last night. Maybe there is a delay in the statistics reporting. Hoping to test tonight.

The tray icon, when using Conman, is very simple, because Conman is a very simple connection program.
The Conman interface, has been made as simple as can be, to make a working connection.
If that is all you need. It is simple and easy to use.
Not like some of the other connection programs, Puppy can have to use.

I have no idea, what other network connection programs, you could have in this build of yours.

If it has the Puppy Network Wizard and you use it to connect.
Make it the default connection.
The tray icon should provide more info and maybe a right click menu.

What is offered by this tray icon, is dependent on the connection program being used.

As far as I can tell, the icon is visible once the JWM theme uses a lighter tray background color.

@bigpup I have the same problem from the ISO which comes from woof-CE generated artifacts -> ubuntu-noble64-7.zip

Which when extracted will have the ISO, devx, docx SFS's.
upup64n-24.04.iso is the ISO of Noblepup64

@dimkr yes the icon appears when I switch the tray theme to light grey BUT I want a dark tray like it is in the stock version.

The version RSH is making is basically this ISO.

I've looked all over this Noblepup64 for the icon with the 2 horizontal arrows....can't find it yet.

@dimkr Thanks.. those were the network icons that are the ones being used by Connman;

I just modified the .svg files in place by altering the color of the arrows ->
