@backi :-

Works for me here, mate. This is in jrb's 'lite' spin of BK's Quirky64 'April' 7.0.1 ATM, though I can guarantee this'll work in every other 64-bit Pup I run, too. 32-bitzers are, of course, now 'stuck' with older versions, since 64-bit is all you get these days.

I run this as an AppImage all the time.....ever since they started offering them like this. It's my preferred app 'format', whenever they work under Puppy.

Mike. ;)

Yes.... applies for me too.... prefer the "portable" Style .

Tested this LibreOffice AppImage in FossaPup64-XenialDog64-BionicDog64-FossaDog64.......confirmed as working .

Best Wishes Mike... and stay healthy !

Mm....that's very much 'subjective', y'know. Ok, if you're the kinda person who absolutely HAS to have the very newest of everything, all the time.....you're sorted. Many other Puppians couldn't care less if the suite is two or three entire series out of date. If it works, is fully functional, and does what they want, they're happy with it.

If you're from a Windoze background, you'll have had it hammered into you, from day one, that up-to-date software is an absolute MUST. Things aren't quite so critical on this side of "the fence"; Linux is more secure by design, and Puppy, in particular, with its unique mode of operation (loading from compressed, read-only files into a RAM disk, running from there, and having the choice, at session's end, whether to save or not), is safer still.

99 times out of 100, the problem is NOT the software, the machine OR the tools you choose to use. The biggest problem, by far, is the "tool" sitting in the chair in front of the keyboard..! :lol:

But as you've found, it IS perfectly possible to run up-to-date stuff in Puppy. Good, isn't it? :D

Good grief. Now that does surprise me. I thought Master Hameleers had kicked 32-bit into touch YEARS ago. It's nice to be proved wrong! :D

Cheers for that 'tid-bit', Pete.

@peebee :-

Like I said; interesting. Looks like at least ONE mainstream distro still considers there's mileage left in 32-bit.....or two, if you count Debian, of course.
