For the majority of the cases I do not like antivirus software, they are invasive and who knows what they send when they call back home.

Kaspersky is apparently an efficient antivirus but, apart from the above, is made by that particular country known to have a debatable IT moral and practices.

Another thing is that you are providing a file via mediafire. I prefer to get software from trusted first party repositories/providers avoiding non_first_party ones, let alone file sharing web hosting.

A solution for some people is to have a rescue usb/disk , a live OS with an uptodate virus signature's db that could be booted (hopefully even via Ventoy) and , without connecting to the Internet, scan your data for malware.

When needed it just get the latest ISO which should includes the most up to date signature's db (so do not have to connect to the internet => it does not call back home). The live ISO/OS gets loaded into RAM and at shutdown there should be no permanent bits and pieces left from it.

This is just what I would do.

I got that link bookmarked into my memory so when I need it I get the latest ISO which includes the latest signature's db (so do not have to connect the the internet => it does not call back home).

I absolutely agree with this, you should be afraid of Virus on Windows. In 20 years of working with Linux, I have never encountered a Virus on Linux

CLAMAV is provided on this forum via Sourceforge and a Google Drive by their respective threads by authors on this board.

CVE's are reported and Ubuntu even have a dedicated page for issues in applications.

Linux servers are targeted for control. Home users may not be the end target.

In my final image, you can add locations which would allow you to include a device which holds a Windows partition.

Apple refused to pay bounty to Kaspersky for uncovering vulnerability part of ‘Operation Triangulation’

Kaspersky, the renowned Russian cybersecurity firm, made headlines at this time last year after uncovering an attack chain using four iOS zero-day vulnerabilities to create a zero-click exploit. Kaspersky was able to identify and report one of the vulnerabilities to Apple. However, in an unfortunate update, Apple reportedly refuses to pay the security bounty for the firm’s contribution.
