EasyOS, kernel panic on a core duo (SOLVED)

Post by Pikaxhu »

Hi... Easy Kennel...

Trying to start testing https://distro.ibiblio.org/easyos/amd64 ... -amd64.img on a:
Dell 1545 core duo and also, on an Asus X551M... smooth frugal boot using grub4dos, then suddenly kernel panic stuck as per attached pics, on both laptops.

Any hint or suggestion shall be appreciated.

Regards

Pikaxhu

maybe someone else can parse more out of your pics....

but could you tell us more about how you made the installs
on a USB?, the same usb tried in each machine?
the same download for each install if two different installs were made?
and what was the last thing you saw before the kernel panic?
and did the boot progress to the same stage before failing for both laptops?

Why have you downloaded version 5.6.7? The latest is 5.7.

easyos is on an external sata hd.
Boot -on each case- was made with easy sfs, initrd and vmlinuz.
As first frugal start

and what was the last thing you saw before the kernel panic?
Display was too fast to read

and did the boot progress to the same stage before failing for both laptops? *Yes*

try with a new download and check the md5sum.

if you get the same failure,
some more details of the steps and tools you used to make the install would be nice
https://easyos.org/tag_install.html
may help for your type of install

Dear Barry

Thanks for your reply, sorry for delayed reply due to Easter break. I've got 5.6.7 a few weeks ago and want to try the easyos update routine, for a shorter / quicker download.

Regards

Pikaxhu

Hi williwaw

Thanks for your tip. The problem was in fact, I didn't realize hidden files and directories were created during initial OS install / setup.

All runs ok now...!!

Have a nice week..
