Firefox audio not playing (Solved)

Post by vin »

Hi !
I have frugal installed xenialpup64 7.5 (dual boot with Lubuntu).
Also downloaded and running Firefox 83.0 in a folder outside puppy.
It is also running well.
The problem comes while playing audio in FF.
Audio is not being played in FF.
It is played in Chrome as well as Palemoon browsers
Can anybody pl. help me fix this?
Thanks.

@vin - most firefox versions under Puppy need the pulseaudio stub (apulse) running for sound.
run in a terminal apulse /(your path to firefox)/firefox. Pet below works if path is /opt/firefox.
To install .pet: download, then click on it in ROX-Filer File Manager & then run Apulse Firefox from the Internet menu.
.pet is here: https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linu ... o/afox.pet

You can make an afox desktop icon by opening /usr/bin in ROX-Filer & dragging afox to desktop.

Alternatively, you could use a version of Firefox that doesn't need apulse, here (uninstall other firefox first):

Thanks for your systematic reply.
Now Firefox plays sound. And the desktop link also works great.
+1 for that.
Thanks again.
