KLV-Hyprland-CE-3.7 stable

@TerryH inspired me to revise the hotkeys. The help file "cheatsheet.md" has been edited. During the test, a couple of scripts were written to hotkeys that had previously been skipped. The above additions were also added

Re: KLV-HyprlandCE-3.6

Post by proebler »

Seeing the enthusiasm here, I downloaded KLV-Hyprland-CE-3.6 stable and did a frugal install to USB .
I appear to have no problem booting, but all it gets to is a blank (black) screen with a functioning cursor and track pad (lap top).
No keyboard action.
I feel dumb to ask what I am missing?
Isn't the 752MB ISO meant to give me at least a basic working system?
Using the power button to shut down, I was presented with the option to save/not-save.
I chose to save, then found the created upper_changes directory and in it /var/log/dmesg.log , which is attached.
Perhaps it helps to help me?
The result is the same when installed to a HDD.
Thanks
proebler

Edit: sorry, I can't attach neither dmesg.log nor dmesg.txt due to HTTP error. dmesg.txt now attached with xz compression.

I looked at the dmsg.txt, and I literally have no clue about such things, but the last lines look like they might be problematic, elogin usaccess failed.

But my first thought is that the kernel modules aren't a good fit and that maybe swapping kernels would be a good thing to try.

I agree with @geo_c, it does look like a kernel module configuration issue. Easiest thing is to try it with another kernel and initrd.gz from another KLV. There is the Void Linux kernel in KLV-Airedale-sr8 that will work nicely in KLV-HyprlandCE. Make sure to copy over the initrd.gz since it is setup to boot the kernel.

Or one of the KLV RT kernels and the skeleton initrd.gz that goes with them. Grab it all from KLV-Airedale-RT or from https://rockedge.org/kernels

Thank you @geo_c and @rockedge. You are right about the kernel modules issue.

It booted successfully to the default desktop on a different machine.
Hyprland felt strange compared to Puppies and I think I will stick with the latter.

I did look at the kernels in https://rockedge.org/kernels , there are so many. If I chose the vmlinuz from say KLV-6.0.0 , how would I then get the initrd.gz that goes with it?

Can :
1)open pcmanfm as root user - MOD-SHIFT + F
2) uncomment line 111 in /etc/default/libc-locales (#da_DK.UTF-8 UTF-8 ) to ( da_DK.UTF-8 UTF-8 )
3) comment out line 165 from in /etc/default/libc-locales ( en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 ) to (#en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 )
4) in /etc/environment change LANG=en_US.UTF-8 to LANG=LANG=da_DK.UTF-8 UTF-8
5) in /etc/locale.conf LANG=en_US.UTF-8 to LANG=LANG=da_DK.UTF-8 UTF-8
6) in the terminal enter sudo xbps-reconfigure -f glibc-locales
7) log out of the session. the system must be in your language

here, too, write your language in line 33 "/home/spot/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf" instead of "kb_layout= us,ru" to "kb_layout= da"

launcher here Wofi (MOD+ D),all programs are displayed there . I don’t understand why you need a tray?

Best regards, Sofiya

or here is a script for translation into your language, all you have to do is exit the session. after running the script
run the script by clicking on it

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
sudo sed -i 's/en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8/#en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8/' /etc/default/libc-locales
sudo sed -i 's/#da_DK.UTF-8 UTF-8/da_DK.UTF-8 UTF-8/' /etc/default/libc-locales
sudo sed -i 's/LANG=en_US.UTF-8/LANG=da_DK.UTF-8/' /etc/environment
sudo sed -i 's/LANG=en_US.UTF-8/LANG=da_DK.UTF-8/' /etc/locale.conf
sudo xbps-reconfigure -f glibc-locales

I tried all of the above. it didnt make it. there is a red error bar on top screen saying #runtime error - invalid keyboard layout passed......#

i might have to wait until there a more easy way like in F96-ce

kindly Gnimmelf

Just for fun, just check if the script is written incorrectly, no, everything is correct, but I don’t understand what is written in half of it. It doesn’t matter .This is YOUR language on the screenshot???
I just downloaded the script, made it executable and clicked on it. Then clicked LOGOUT. I waited until it restarted and there was no message bar, just a different languageк

here, too, write your language in line 33 /home/spot/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf instead of "kb_layout= us,ru" to "kb_layout= da" or whatever it should be right

if you did not use a script, but an instruction, then there were errors in it. I don’t know why LANG and UTF-8 were superfluous in it. In paragraphs 4) and 5) I seemed to write correctly..

Can :
1)open pcmanfm as root user - MOD-SHIFT + F
2) uncomment line 111 in /etc/default/libc-locales (#da_DK.UTF-8 UTF-8 ) to ( da_DK.UTF-8 UTF-8 )
3) comment out line 165 from in /etc/default/libc-locales ( en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 ) to (#en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 )

6) in the terminal enter sudo xbps-reconfigure -f glibc-locales
7) log out of the session. the system must be in your language

sorry - cant get the keybord to work in the right way - did "write your language in line 33 /home/spot/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf instead of "kb_layout= us,ru" to "kb_layout= da" or whatever it should be right" but i get a red bar on top of screen
who says there is an error in keyboard 105 or something, and hyprland might not work proberly? im on a lenovo ideapad gaming 3 - maybe its just my keyboard? i dont have any troubles with F96-ce - bookworm -airedale etc

KLV-HyprlandCE-2.0

Post by Clarity »

I am posting this on this thread. It is an appeal for improving HyprLand (Wayland).

The KL's are way ahead of the other distro communities on the forum.

As such, this community of Linux users on the Puppy Discussion forum I think would want to see this. KLs are in the best position of users who would see the benefit
