@rcrsn51:-

Ah. OK. Well, in that case, I'll do some more experimenting over the weekend. (These are always a busy time for me, so don't expect to hear back from me for a couple of days or so).

Leave it with me. I'll see if your suggestions bear fruit...

Mike. ;)

Here are 32/64 bit versions of PeasyScan and the SANE pixma backend for recent Canon models.
The original instructions are here.

I hope you are doing well !
Tons of thanks for these awesome apps !
I've installed both above 64 bits related pets (sane and peasyscan) on Fossapup64-F96-CE, using my old Canon-pixma-160 printer/scanner (don't use the printer anymore...!).
And using the config file as documented here (5 years ago !): all has ran OK OOTB !
https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/viewtop ... 3#p981793
Here are the two config files used for black and white contrasted rendering; and for color rendering, both having 300pp resolution.

/usr/local/peasyscan/config/pixma160_4B&W_config.cfg:

Code: Select all

export URI="pixma:04A91714_F30F67"
export SOURCE="flatbed"
export MODE="lineart"
export RESOLUTION="300"
export PAPER="A4"
export LANGUAGE="fra"
export OTHER="--custom-gamma=yes --gamma-table [0]1-[4095]255 --gamma=0.4"

/usr/local/peasyscan/config/pixma160_4COLOR_config.cfg:

export URI="pixma:04A91714_F30F67"
export SOURCE="flatbed"
export MODE="color"
export RESOLUTION="300"
export PAPER="A4"
export LANGUAGE="fra"
export OTHER="--custom-gamma=yes --gamma-table [0]1-[4095]255 --gamma=0.4"

NB: the URI is given at last line of the comments returned by launching in a terminal (...with scanner plugged in and powered ON !...;-D )

Code: Select all

# scanimage --help -d canon

Best regards ! Greetings from Belgium !
And already wish you nice Christmas and New Year times !
Charlie
last edited: in both config files, bringing «--gamma=0.5» instead of 0.4 improves details and decreases blurr around scanned text
