Post by pp4mnklinux »

Hello everybody:

I am looking for a software to share my screen with some of my pupils.

when I am not at university, travelling far away, I need any software to share my screen with them so I can explain in a multimedia way and answer their doubts.

Do you know anything I can use in puppy ?...

@pp4mnklinux I think there are some programs around to share screens in Puppy Linux. Will many students be looking at the same time like in a virtual classroom?

In this case a broadcast software may be a good solution. What are your requirements?

Hi, @rockedge , I searched on the internet, find a lot of programs, but in the end, I chose to use one recomended for ubuntu linux.

I install all the packages, I want to star it but....

"YOUR GRAPHIC CARD DOESN'T SUPPORT THIS SOFTWARE" (take a look at the image to see what I installed)

I must continue trying, because I know you can share videos or notes or your screen on line using chat programs... so I continue trying (till this moment, I must continue using videos)

n.b.- I dont need to share my screen with all the class, cos are particular questions.- That is, one of my students contact me.... he/she asks me a question and I call him/her back to solve it.... but if I have visual aid the answer could be more useful.

https://sourceforge.net/software/screen-sharing/linux/

If you can suggest me how how share my screen, I be reallly thankful....

Have a nice sunday....

Cheers.

Anydesk is a good choice to try and I have been testing out the package Jami for screen sharing: https://jami.net/download-jami-linux/

Downloaded the Ubuntu version for 20.4 and then had to install missing libs -> libyaml-0-2_0.2.2-1 and libyaml-cpp0.6.6.2 with the PPM

Running here on F96-CE_4

Thanks a lot.

The first TO-DO for tomorrow monday, I'll test and decide if it can be useful for my needs.-

HAVE A NICE SUNDAY.

CHEERS

---------------------------------edited----------------------------

I can't wait to test, so I downloaded the file..... but now there is no libyaml-cpp0.6.6.2 package

Without it I can't install JAMI and I think It is not useful for me.... It is ENOOOORRRRMOUS..... (very big size.- 1Gb +/ )

@pp4mnklinux Try in your PPM to search for just libyaml and libyaml-cpp

Also if you have installed the Jami .deb package and try to start it in a terminal what does it report?

Hi again:

I deleted it, because I thought it was not useful for me, because of its size.

Don't worry I'll try to test tomorrow.

Thanks a lot, nowadays I'm in morocco, so it's late and I must rest a little (it's a secret, sshhhh.... but I don't like this country and its inhabitants).

Have a nice day u all. CHEERS.

@pp4mnklinux / @rockedge :-

I still say DWService has a lot going for it. You download a couple of small Python scripts, and it runs in your browser....

Just a suggestion, like.

Mike. ;)
