Brave Portable wont launch

Post by bigphil »

I've installed Brave Portable on a USB stick that I use for online banking and the like however it won't launch.
Firefox and Palemoon run OK.
The stick is formatted to vfat and the OS is Fossapup64.

Any ideas?

Probably that's the problem (vfat) as Brave Portable is running as user "spot" which cannot work on FAT filesystem, try running it from a Linux filesystem , e.g. ext3 or ext4 .

You've beaten me to it by a whisker, Fred! I was just about to post the exact same concern. I'm not sure WHY, either; there's no sym-links here, but these Chromium-based clones never seem to run correctly from FAT32....

@bigphil :-

I'd advise the same. Re-format to Ext3, then "install" it again. Pounds to peanuts it'll fire straight up.

I've used Ext3 since time out of mind, and that's what I build everything under.

Mike. ;)

I think it's because of the chown -R spot:spot ... in LAUNCH that FAT doesn't like... (i.e. cannot change owner to spot on FAT).

Thanks for the help folks.
I reformatted the memory stick to Ext3, re-installed Fossa and viola it all works
