Unfortunately, if you wish to provide a free opensource site for others here you are expected to pay for the priviledge, which is a complete no no considering open-source project providers are providing all that work free to the community already! Crazy IMO.

@wiak It's opensource: https://man.sr.ht/installation.md

I think if you want to have hosting and support, you can pay, but if you want, you can run sourcehut on your own server, and then costs are the physical server machine, and possibly electricity (depending if electricity is included in rent, or one's own solar system, or electricity from infrastructure, etc.)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it's kinda like running a peertube instance, right?

Yes, I wasn't intending my own server version so I'll stick with free cloud gitlab and github.

I'll stick with free

It's said if you didnt pay for the product, you are the product

any ideas how this might hold true using github servers?

They are all out to make money of course. Nevertheless, any open source individual developers who offer their projects for free use shouldn't be then asked to pay for the means of distribution! Well they can be asked, but I don't imagine any takers! ;-) Getting cloud resources free is still easy enough but of course they are always seeking ways to monetize, which is understandable of course.

I'm guessing, and maybe I read it somewhere, that github is available to train AI in code, or pull from etc. Like I said just guessing really.
