How to start Gogglesmm when Puppy starts? (solved)

Post by pp4mnklinux »

Hello, I have gogglesmm installed and I want to start it when my computer boots.

I copy in the startup root folder (root/startup) the application, the bin file, but I cant start it when booting.

Can you help me to do this.

Thanks a lot.

Have a nice day

I assume it works ok when running gogglesmm from Menu ?
I did the same (copied the binary to /root/Startup) and starts at boot for me ok.
Downloaded and installed .deb from here (I like it btw :) ):
https://launchpad.net/~s.jansen/+archiv ... /+packages
(depends on your puppy version which one to choose)

What you can try instead of copying the binary is to symlink it in /root/Startup, or add a script there that calls /usr/bin/gogglesmm .

Yes, there is no problem when starting from icon, menu or terminal, it only happens when I want to start it at boot (I gonna save 1 second doing it start from menu, but...)

THANKS

@pp4mnklinux
Try this script in /root/Startup (name it as you like e.g. gogglesmm-start and make it executable chmod +x /root/Startup/gogglesmm-start)

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash

sleep 5
gogglesmm

The sleep value may be important, increase it to e.g. 10 if still doesn't work.
