in fact I summarize the "..." I think that @soniabu knows the rest for which I think should not be modified in the .desktop so the essence of what I think is around the image and not the rest which for me is not to be modified (therefore specified above)...
I think that --appimage-mount is more useful than --appimage-extract since it only requires a single file (so as not to overload an HDD unnecessarily), so the manipulation will be linphone.appimage --appimage-mount /pathmntfolder
and just extract the logo png
rename it (if ecessary), and move it to the right folder
is it clearer ?

Yes, I know about the --appimage options, but if that has anything to do with sonia's issue I'm not sure, let's see.

Re: how to insert frequently used icons into the panel.
Thanks guys for all this help but the incident hasn't happened again for about four days - I only performed an update/upgrade once.
Furthermore I only inserted four applications in the bottom panel - and nor six like I did before - and when I restart I find them in their place.
So for the moment I'm satisfied like this and don't bother you anymore.
If I'll encounter any more problems I'll squawking like a goose!

soniabu wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 9:23 amA strange thing happens with Application launch bar after I created the '.desktop' for AppImage.
After choosing the five favorite applications (of which two are AppImages) at the next boot - occasionally - I find no more than one or two icons of the five choices.
If I open the Application launch bar I see that the others that do not appear are replaced by icons with the question mark and that I cannot remove.
To be able to remove them I must first remove the Application Launch bar; add it again and rebuild the application preferences.
Then when I restart (occasionally) I still find a couple of icons with the correct symbol and the others the same as before.
My gratitude to those who can explain this mystery to me.
sonia --- as soon as the mystery arises, I'll show you the image.here missing on this occasion:
Simple Python server; Calibre AppImage
I solved the 'panel setting' problem described above by doing:
- delete the previous setting;
- new panel setting.
Now, instead of question marks, the correct application icons appear.
