When I click on Clamvtk the window opens with only pinched display of the items to select.

Edited the file /opt/clamav/clam-gui

Changed line 41

Code: Select all

--icon="$ICON" \ --left --menubox "$(gettext '.')" 440x350 0.8 \

To:

Code: Select all

--icon="$ICON" \ --left --menubox "$(gettext '.')" 440x500 0.8 \

Made the 440x350 to 440x500.

Now it displays like this:

@bigpup :-

When I click on Clamvtk the window opens with only pinched display of the items to select.

Heh. This is, of course, the danger (for Linux devs) of attempting to use specific dimensions/locations with "X". What works fine for you - and looks great on YOUR screen - won't necessarily look the same on somebody else's. With the huge variation in screen sizes/resolutions, different fonts (and sizes), the fact that you don't know if the other person is running at standard DPI, or greater.........even different themes render differently. Is it GTK+ 2.0.....or is it GTK+ 3.0? Are they even running "X", or have they transitioned to Wayland?

It's a regular minefield. You cannot, unfortunately, control what's outside your own environment/sphere of knowledge. How could you? Thus, no blame attaches to Jose, either.......all any of us can do is to take an educated best-guess with these things, and hope it'll render OK for the greatest number of people.

---------------------------------

Windoze devs don't have this issue, because everybody is singing from the same hymn-sheet, and M$ has doubtless tested the OS on a number of different, commonly-available screen resolutions before ever releasing it. Frankly, with their resources, they could probably test every individual model as and when the manufacturers release it to market!

Sorry to belabour the point, but it's one that many amateur coders sometimes forget (and I'm guilty here, too!). Or aren't even aware of...

(*shrug...*)

Mike. ;)

my two cents,

i installed on Fossapup64 9.6 or F96-CE......... Whatever it works fine, updated the virus definitions no probs,

however installed on EasyOS 5.5 it wont update definitions,

wonder about how its scanning detection is?

Any discussion about EasyOS needs to be done in the EasyOS section of the forum.

EasyOS is not Puppy Linux and software posted in Additional Software is only for use in Puppy Linux OS's.

one of the problems that can occur.
if you used it before, in a puppy.
the clamav server gives that error. 2 or 3 times with the same ip in that day, it crashes the server.

another error may be if the iso does not have the urxvt terminal.

but EasyOS, if it brings urxvt

My goodness what a terrible tragedy this was under Additional Software (PETs, n' stuff)Security/Privacy and about Fossapup not about EasyOS that was a mere afterthought.
