Probably moust/all of You know what is markdown. Then if someone use it look this... : ) Total free tested on My Bionic OS. and Works great, but need little work to working.

Give permission to executable app chmod +x
Then run app ./app-name

chmod +x marktext x86_64.AppImage
./marktext x86_64.AppImage

After install: Add program to start menu -- Document > marktext - Markdown Editor (icon you can download on git hub here > https://github.com/marktext/marktext/bl ... -small.png

Deskrop entry create in /usr/share/applications/ name marktext.desktop

Icon name marktext.png amd place in /usr/share/icons/

Place all like is in: [Desktop Entry] path:

And please, tell me when we can ask about add this app to official puppy linux repo. Puppy Packet Manager install will be best if we can report this marktext app. Or create deb. packege for easy install in future.

I can find meny more great app who not egsist in puppy repo. But i rly wont know who can add this or tell me how i can create official repo for that app if possible. I like lern but i need little help on start….

if you are reviewing markdown apps, perhaps you can suggest a nice but smaller app? the appimage for Marktext is over 70 MB!

Advanced Topics/Additional Software (PETs, n' stuff)/AppImages, Snaps and Flatpaks

In PM repository we have apps that should be installed in proper dirs (with all dependencies). AppImages are portable apps and don't need to be installed. Your tip to add them to Puppy Menu is good enough.

That editor is probably bast i ever use, all automatic example ctrl+ B give You **|** <- this 4x * with cursor in center for bold. Also you can change mode to source code.Ctrl +E. Focus mode or Typewriter.
Meny Themes. Image from clipboard. You can tag code and meny more. Rly great editor.

Output can be HTML and PDF then i not think 70MB is too much if you wont add all this futures for vim also plugin size not be super small i think

Thanks but i have only one problem i add also marktext sim link to JWM menu then i can use rigt click on *.md files and open it instant in marktext. But my problem is: If i NOT use right click, on markdown file puppy still open it in mdview. Question then how i can setup puppy to uninstall mdview and auto use marktext for all *md file? First i think all will be work automatic becouse i add in .desktop file that line. MimeType=application/x-markdown; but still puppy use mdview. I wont know what i must change now to auto use app for file *.ext

I rly wont that app in repo size is not important i know puppy must be small but i use rtx2060Super and 32GB ram and 6 Core cpu with 12 threads. I love that os but also i wont meny great apps. You alweys can choice you can install it or not, right?
Then best way will be even if app is portable, create some script who auto copy that file and [desktop entry] file to right directory after download, and ask user, he wont open *.ext all *md file in app as defoult. And also add marktext to ROX right click menu

But i think that one LMB click for small viewer and selecting an application from the menu for editing in big app is a good setting.

In new version puppy linux: Menu > Setup >Defoult Application Chooser should have choice for defoult *.md application. But my problem solved now marktext is configured in 100% ^^ Thanks for give me "MIME" path.

Code for someone who wont change marktext to defouolt *.md app.

....and that is STILL the 'root' of the matter. Despite that many of us are now using high-powered hardware, a lot of Puppy users still run elderly, low-resource machines.....the type of thing that Puppy was always designed for.

Modern apps tend to be written to expect their users are also running modern, powerful machines. Time doesn't stand still, unfortunately.
