@debianfan - the initrd.gz needed for overlayfs is quite different from standard puppies & specific to each puppy. Inside it are specific DISTRO_SPECS and init. I based mine largely on gyro's work from the old forum in 2019. What is also needed is a settings file (ydrv) which contains a modified shutdownconfig & changed DISTRO_SPECS & my updatesfs (to allow .sfs modification, as savefile/folder does not work). Allows multiple ?drv.sfs files. Although I made Fossapup64 work, I had to make even more modifications than ScPup64, Bionicpup64 or Jammypup64 needed. Then you need an overlayfs-capable kernel (vmlinuz & zdrv). Which pup did you plan to use?
I can work up some basic instructions in the next few days.
@finit12 This kernel has 29 KVM settings - I can only see 4 that could be changed to y (see highlighted in red below). Is that what you want?
You could try ( in a terminal): modprobe KVM
and then (if you have an intel cpu): modprobe KVM_INTEL

@ozsouth:-
Cheers for this, Oz. Touch wood, it appears to be working very sweetly in jrb's 'lite' spin on Barry's old Quirky64 'April' 7.0.1; circa Tahrpup-era, date-wise, yet Barry outfitted it with some pretty advanced & bang up-to-date stuff for its time. Running with the stock 'nouveau' driver here, since this Quirky seems to have major issues with OpenGL not being 'enabled'?
No probs with the Intel audio hardware, so no kernel-line "tweaks" needed.
I'll probably transplant it into Fossa64 at some point, though I first need to 'unload' the Nvidia SFS PhilB provided in the repos.....so I can get it back to 'nouveau', just while I re-compile with getNvidia to get the official driver back again for the new kernel!
'Sall fun & games, ain't it? No 'peace for the wicked'.....(*sigh*)
Mike.
