Thanks @ozsouth Like 5.15.50 before it, it runs perfectly on my Bay Trail desktops that will not run under the 5.16 or newer kernels. Checked in LxPupSc64 22.02 +2, Voidpup64 22.02 +8, and a couple of variations on fossapup64 9.5. I still have two of the desktop beasts, one used by a farm friend and one in my basement to maintain the other
My pups: LxPupSc64 and Voidpup64 with LXDE ydrv and synaptics touchpad drivers, both using small savefiles for customizations. Ydrv based NoblePup64 and Fossapup64-small (both LXDE/PCManFM with no savefiles). No fdrvs throughout.

I wanted to change the kernel in XenialPup64. I downloaded ubuntu derivative kernel. What do I do with fdrv?, do I replace it with zdrv_xenialpup64_7.5.sfs by renaming it to zdrv....? or just add to the same folder as where vmlinuz goes to (name needs to change?) Do I need to load the header and source files before booting into the new kernel?

@gychang the original xenialpup64 zdrv contains the firmware that we now have as an fdrv, so as per first post instructions, the new 'kernel modules.sfs ...'
file contained within the .bz2 file posted is to be renamed to become the new zdrv_xenialpup64_7.5.sfs. Then fdrv must now be a separate file, & you rename the downloaded one as fdrv_xenialpup64_7.5.sfs and place it in the same folder as the other .sfs (i.e. puppy_xenialpup64_7.5.sfs , zdrv_xenialpup64_7.5.sfs). The 'vmlinuz ...' from with in the .bz2 file then replaces the old one in your boot folder (renamed to just be vmlinuz). Then when you reboot, all the .sfs system files will load & merge to start puppy.
I tested xenialpup64_7.5 with the new kernel on my 6yo i3 laptop - works fine.
