Difference between 434 and 435

Post by don570 »

Dell optiplex i5 desktop with nvidia geforce 1030 video card installed.

I noticed a strange difference in how video is handled between 434 and 435

Both installs say that nouveau driver is installed.

However when I use xvideo utility to run xorgwizard
there is a different list of possible drivers to chose from.
Here is Easy 435 with nvidia driver listed on top.

Followed by a screenshot of Easy 434 which has modesetting driver at the top of list.
Modesetting isn't even mentioned in Easy 435.

Addendum: When I choose modesetting and my monitors resolution it does boot to desktop in Easy 434

Yes,
I left the modesetting driver out of the 32-bit build, as in tests it didn't work.
Those old computers have video cards that don't support KMS I think, which is why modesetting driver is not appropriate.

Really, the 32-bit build should have been compiled with an older version of Xorg and older drivers.

If the version ( 435 ) that I am using is 32 bit that explains why I can't run my favorite appimages which are 64 bit.
