Seamonkey on GitHub sites

Post by mories »

Thanks for this release for Pi 4, it boot very fast and works very nice.

For now just a small problem with Seamonkey on GitHub sites: dropdown menu for branches/tags does not work correctly, GitHub caret appears, but the list of branches is not displayed.
Does anyone know what the cause may be, any configuration in Seamonkey or any lack of Seamonkey?

I was wondering what had gone wrong with github!

Yes, the dropdown doesn't work, but next to it is a link, named "<n> branches" or "1 branch", click on that and you can see the branches.

I've been using the github-wc-polyfill extension with good results on palemoon.

But in other browsers, not chrome-based like Firefox ESR 68.10 in Raspup, these elements do work.
Then in Seamonkey it should also be included, I think.
In any case, thank you all for the information and workarounds

Rapberry Pi 400
Now using EasyOS Dunfell 2.6.1 for Raspberry Pi4

Got a little confused by there being two topics on EasyOS for Raspberry Pi 4.
One points to the v 2.6 viewtopic.php?p=15497#p15497
This one is the v 2.6.1

On first initial boot.
When booting to the desktop, an error pops up, saying this:

brcmfmac mmc1:0001:1: Direct firmware load for brcm/brcmfmac43456-sdio.raspberrypi,400.txt failed with error -2

I am not doing anything but booted to desktop.
later it seems to load OK, when WIFI connection is attempted.
brcmfmac is the WIFI hardware driver.

On my monitor the desktop does not fill the whole screen.
There is a black area around all sides of the desktop.

This is a underscan/overscan issue.

Raspup Buster 8.2.1 for the Raspberry Pi computers.
It has this:

If on first boot your screen is a bit too big or too small you can adjust it with the Pi Overscan or Underscan application in the Desktop menu. It's a bit trial and error but each increment is in pixels so you can have a reasonable guess on first go. This also fixes the console view as well and is persistent even if you don't save the session at first boot.

This works great for making needed adjustment to correct overscan/underscan.
Suggest this needs added to EasyOS for the Pi4.

This is the program from Raspup for adjusting underscan/overscan
Note:
Remove .zip from name of file to use it. Had to add .zip so it would attach to post.
Also need to give it exec permission so it will run, when clicked on.

fix_pi.zip
Remove .zip from name of file to use it.
Had to add .zip to name so it would attach to post.

.
I tried this fix_pi program in EasyOS for Pi4.
It corrected my screen underscan.
Now the desktop fills all of the monitors screen.
Note:
50 in all of the settings, was needed to correct, my monitors underscan.

Some program windows open too small in size.
They open in a window that is not wide enough.

Does Easy Update work for this Easy OS for the Pi4?

Did not want to try it, if it is going to do it, using stuff for the x86 EasyOS.

Using EasyOS Dunfell 2.6.1 on a Raspberry Pi 400
To provide audio to a headset.
I have a USB audio 3.5mm plug adapter.
The adapter is seen as card1 USB audio device.

I can use the Multiple sound card Wizard to change from using the card 0: b1 [bcm2835 HDMI 1] to using this card1: USB audio device.
So I am getting audio in the headset.

However, this change does not stay set, after shutdown.
On reboot, audio is set to using card 0: b1 [bcm2835 HDMI 1].

"However, this change does not stay set, after shutdown.

This snippet tells me something unexpected... the driver is based on an "OLD" ARM v7 chip (bcm2835) for the pi zero or original. The Rpi-400 is using the bcm2711 64-bit chip. The differences are HUGE. All of the bcm2835/36/37 chips (Rpi zero to 4x) are IN ORDER EXECUTION 32-bit. The bcm2711 chip in the Rpi-400 is DEEPLY OUT OF ORDER EXEC.64-bit. Raspian Buster solved this using THREE KERNELS. One for the 32-bit bcm2835, one for the bcm2836/37 64-bit (both v7), and one for the bcm2711 64-bit (v8) Its an architecture thing.

I would humbly suggest two versions of this PUP.... one for 32-bit/64-bit ARMv7 (bcm2835/36/37), and one for 64-bit ARMv8 Rpi-400 only (bcm2711). I strongly suspect this is the root of all driver issues, feature issues, etc.
THIS IS NOT x86 vs. x86_64 !

My Raspberry Pi 400 i wonder if it is a mix or parts.

My CPU info says this:
▶—— CPU ——◀

ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l)
64-bit capable: No

But it runs the 64bit version of EasyOS for the Pi, with no problem.

If you look at the specs on the Raspberry web site.
It is suppose to have the ARM v8 64-bit SoC @ 1.8GHz

The ARMv7 is suppose to be 1.5GHz, but in EasyOS 2.6.1 it is running at 1.8GHz

It was from that big box store in the United States that the name starts with a "W".
Ordered it from their web site.
Probably a good chance it was one of the first versions of the Pi 400, because they buy stuff, a lot of them, at one time.
It did come directly from them.

Now I notice, some stuff on their web site is listed, actually being sold, from some other location.
