Can u help me to delete those icons? (SOLVED)

Post by pp4mnklinux »

Read first: https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic ... 98#p129798
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As u can see, I am trying to use a clean desktop but I found a problem.
There's no way to delete these 7 icons (I deleted them, but they go back once and again).
viewtopic.php?t=12435#p129725
I deleted them , I look for them at startup ... but I don't know how to put them out.
I wanna place the drive icons centered, where is the option to modify the coordenades (x,y) ?/ in puppy you can do it with right click option.
Can any of u help me?
Thanks.
You can do it using menu--desktop--Legacy theme tools---Icon layout or
edit /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/ and delete the lines from PuppyPin
and look in /var/local/sss/root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin
@Amol The suggested folder, doesn't exist in my EasyOS
@nilsonmorales Similar happens with your solution:
root/Choices/ROX-Filter/PuppyPin exists, I changed the permisions, but when I modify this lines, delete the icons and restart X this file goes to its original contents (once and again)
Th second file.- var/local/sss/root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin doesn't exist.
It is possible (OC) I made some errors, so please, explain me step by step for EasyOs (not puppy, plz)
THANKS
It could be related to viewtopic.php?p=116367#p116367 :
If the word defaultbrowser (previously www) is not present on the file PuppyPin, this file is replaced by a copy of PuppYPinBACKUP at the start of X
So try by modifying PuppyPin and PuppyPinBACKUP at the same time. (Or by adding the word "defaultbrower" on the PuppyPin file(EDIT this method do not resist to reboot))
It partially works.- I deleted the default browser but I can't do the same with these three icons ( I tryed the same way but it doesn't work).
Thanks...
I try to do it with drives to center them.
@Caramel AMAZING (but.... )
It partially works.- I deleted the default browser but I can't do the same with these three icons ( I tryed the same way but it doesn't work).
The cause :
Lines 128 to 130 of /root/.xinitrc :
#180409 easyos, check containerized-apps still on desktop...
#note, created in /usr/local/easy_containers/easy-containers, but session-wipe may remove desktop icons.
[ -x /usr/local/easy_containers/ec-fix-desktop ] && /usr/local/easy_containers/ec-fix-desktop
The icons of containerized-apps are automatically recreated by ec-fix-desktop
A solution :
Prevent the execution of ec-fix-desktop, for example by removing the execution right:
in a terminal, enter
Code: Select all
chmod -x /usr/local/easy_containers/ec-fix-desktop
it may be necessary to redo it after an upgrade of EasyOS version
(EDITED for clarity)
Don't use these suggestions, plz.
Thanks everybody for your help, but I think the beneficts are not big enought.
I will forget this and I'll go back to traditional desktop (a little bit modified, but without blocked icons modifications, because your suggestions made a lot of errors, so in the end I restored system)
I have tried the suggested methods, but unfortunately, the result was not as expected. My system froze, and I had to restore it from a snapshot. I've decided to only modify the parts that were not causing issues and I decided to use this composition (vid image), sorry . Thank you for the help, but...!
I don't understand. The only risk is a corrupted PuppyPin in case of bad modifications.
PS : If the system freezes but not the keyboard you can try Ctrl+Alt+F2 to access the command line
PS 2 : I had deleted the icon of the containerized www and booted twice since without problem.
Thanks. , :goodpost:
JWM desktop (modded)
(It could be marvellous if you help me to show in the task bar all the opened programs in every desktop, that is:
Imagine I have 6 desktops
Desktop 1.- Firefox Running
Desktop 2.- Libre Office
Desktop 3.- Gimp
...
Is it possible to show in the task bar all running programms instead of only the running programs on this desktop??)
I tryed to edit the jwmrc-tray2 line <TaskList maxwidth="250" labeled="true" /> to make it show all desktops but I made some error
With f96ce_xfce_fusilli it was really simple, you only need to mark the option show all desktops and you have access to all of them.
Have a nice day u all, thanks.
