Just compared (frugal) quickpup64_21.08-beta-1 vs.
quickpup64_21.06-beta-2

Both still have problem:
Draw Drawing of libreoffice does not work.
Thunar keeps crashing (quit without error message)

Pulse Audio quickpup64_21.06 works fine on all browsers
Vivaldi 4.0.2312.27, Brave 1.28.70 and Firefox 91.0

Pulse Audio quickpup64_21.08 works fine only on Firefox.

Can I have the libreoffice apps that you used? (in package or sfs)
What did you do before the thunar crashed?

I have also seen and mentioned the 64bit Thunar crash problem when using my ydrv Xfce add on
It happens randomly when opening a folder
No error messages are produced to give any clues

Not sure what kind of "Bugfix on puppy remaster script".
I tested to remaster ISO.
After remastered vivaldi and brave browsers are not working anymore.
Only firefox working but all my personal setting are gone.
Many custom settings go back to original default e.g Screen resolution, network connection, speaker volume etc.

Draw Drawing of libreoffice does not work.

I finally found the solution. All you need was to install avahi runtime library

@mikeslr since we don't really know each other, I'm in Upups working on browsers, yet support not only using alt-desktops, but trying to get them normalized as flavors to boost Puppy penetration, especially LXQt and XFCE.

The future market for JWM without persistent refinement both aesthetic and user-experience-wise is technical users on low-end Chromebooks, if it's lucky.

And if you try to push any more assignments on me, either publicly or privately, I'll unload.

Fuck off.

@ JASpup.

Suggest you cut down on your caffeine or other stimulent intake.

As of this writing the Forum has, “Total posts 35008 • Total topics 3573 • Total members 1681".
I have long ago despaired of trying to keep up with all developments and all the specific interests of each Forum member. Apparently like you, I primarily focus on Puppys which are binary-compatible with Ubuntu or debian. I do know, however, that Slackware-binary-compatible Puppys have a strong following, several talented Devs; and from reputation and personal experience that on some hardware “Slackware-based” Puppys provide superior graphics and sound.
Despite the narrowing of my focus I do try to help those with other interests. In doing that I operate under a couple of assumptions. (1) Almost certainly true, like myself, other Puppy fans may not be aware of all relevant information; and possibly true, that I may be aware of some information of which another is not. (2) There’s efficiency and a certain elegance achieved by introducing people with overlapping interests but differing experience and concerns to each other and their work.
It was in that spirit that I sent you a private email. As you’ve publicly criticized me for doing so I’ll make it public. This is the text of my email:

“Recipient: JASpup
IIRC, you're a fan of xfce. If so, you might want to take QuickPup64 21.08 BETA 5 out for a spin. viewtopic.php?p=27469#p27469
Although still in Beta, mistfire has done a really nice job of creating a Puppy with a great many builtin modern features that are identified in the OP. I took a look at it because of those.
The thing is I really do prefer JWM-Rox and don't want to spend the time re-learning how Xfce manages things.
Your experience could help smooth out any of Quickpup's remaining rough-spots.”

It took me far longer to write that it would take your to read. It was sent privately rather than posted leaving you alone to choose what to do with that information. If you weren’t interested than it would take you no further time to just ignore it; almost no time to delete it; and just a little more time to privately reply “Don’t currently have the time/interest”. Instead, you came up with a 4th choice: spend a great deal more of your precious time to create a public issue which otherwise would not have existed.

I did not know when I emailed you that your focus had narrowed to transporting Puppy to Chromebooks. I might still have sent the email as (a) Slackware can be employed in such projects, https://github.com/jakeday/chromebook-pixel-slackware and (b) the choice of what you would do with that information was yours.

You’re right: “We don’t really know each other”. But I now know a great deal more about you. We all do. Rest assured that I will ‘fuck off' and won’t waste any more of my time addressing your interests publicly or privately. But do cut down on your intake of stimulants.

Yes it's free of systemd. It uses busybox init by default.

Goto https://pkgs.org and download fedora or debian package. Install it by double clicking it. You need to resolve the package dependencies by yourself. pkgs.org provides clues for package dependencies

1. I should see what are the dependencies and install them or is there any guide with resolving the dependencies?
2. What about updates. Isn't there any possible break if i mix different packages coming from different distros when updating this iso ?

pkgs.org provides package information regarding dependencies to download. If you want all automatic dependencies just use PPM. Don't forget to update the package database first

If the package was also available in slackware. Just go to Menu > Check Package updates. The extra dependencies will be automatically download and install

Beta 5: I really like this pup. It's relatively small but there's much wealth of puppy utilities no longer found in other recent puppies. Thunar context menu is also well thought of for ease of use. There's plenty of useful utility.

Some gripes...
-I have some difficulty getting my QT app to work here. It works under debian/ubuntu based pups. I know this is slackware based, so that must be it. I gotta fill all those missing dependencies.
-I use Slimjet browser running as spot. Audio doesn't work.
-Despite being small, it boots and shuts-down longer compared to other pups.
-i just hope those known bugs get squashed soon, particularly the tray icon problem.

Overall, great job here mistfire.

QuickPup64 21.08 BETA 6 released

Changes:
* Linux kernel 5.14.4 fixed i2c input devices issue (thanks @peebee)
* Improved initrd. Initrd can use ntfs3 driver for mounting ntfs partition if it was builtin on the kernel
* Improved NTFS mounting. It will use ntfs3 driver first if present otherwise it will fallback to ntfs-3g
* find_iso boot parameter is now supported. It means QuickPup64 can direction from ISO via bootloader
* Improved sanderdog. Its app entries are no longer messing around with the host system.
* More compiler friendly. The complete pkgconfig, aclocal, and vala entries has been restored.
* Improved package files audit.
* Fixed package management.
* Added pulseaudio support for run-as-spot script. Browser running from spot can now play sound without pulseaudio bypass.
* Updated packages.

Just look for Qt SFS modules instead of installing Qt manually

That's the responsibility of XFCE devs not mine. I just also waiting their xfce releases

Booting directly from the QP64 v21.08b6 ISO file
By merely adding the ISO file to the SG2D USB, it is found and boots to desktop without issues (it took 3 minutes to download the ISO file to USB and start a boot from the USB on a PC). AND, Save session works and on reboot, it is found and used.

SAMBA

  1. SAMBA is missing. Cannot run SAMBA utils; namely smbclient, findsmb, etc. And attempts at install do NOT install compatible as is found in current WoofCE PUPs.

  2. Should you make another, somewhere in your future, could you include the SAMBA PET to the build that installs Puppy LInux's SAMBA Simple Management utility (SSM) to the Menu, please.

Samba is required for my use needs. And If SSM is present, the setup is exactly as all the current WoofCEs that are used.

Thanks, I am continuing to test other subsystems of this QP64-v21.08b6 system on couple of my Intel x86-64s.now

Edit: Shutdown
Selected 'SAve' at session end and it progresses as expected. But, on First Shutdown sanity check screen, I was not allowed to change the folder (change folder button missing).

That's weird, samba utils was already builtin on QuickPup, all samba works fine. Also Simple Management utility (SSM) was already included on QuickPup64. I tested it on pristine state
