not found errors when trying to comple a Nvidia driver in F96-CE_4(solved)

Post by bigpup »

F96-CE_4 (Fossapup64 9.6)
Frugal install using a save folder.
Lots of free space on drive to use.
Nvidia hardware GeForce RTX 2060.

Trying to compile and install the Nvidia driver, using the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-535.104.05.run package from Nvidia.
suggested driver for my hardware.

Doing it following the method in this topic:
How to install a Nvidia driver using getnvidia program and driver run package
https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=123

Everything needed is installed or loaded.

When the compiling process is running it gets close to the end, but does not complete.

Gives two errors about why it did not complete.

etc/OpenCL not found

usr/X11R7/lib not found

Anyone know how to get what this is asking to find and use?
How to get it installed into F96-CE_4?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note:
This is one of the newest driver packages from Nvidia, so I am sure it is trying to use maybe newer Linux software to compile.

I have used this method, with older driver packages in older versions of Puppy Linux, and it works with no issues.
Last one I did it in was Bionicpup64 8.0 using a Nvidia 384 driver package.

I guess I could try doing it with an older Nvidia driver package, that may not be looking for the same software stuff, to be able to compile.

But this is one of the newest versions of Puppy.
So it does need to be able to support compiling the newest Nvidia drivers.

Any ideas or help, please!!

@bigpup Hi. I can tell you for sure that the driver version 525.89.02 is exactly assembled and running in Fossapup. There are problems with the 53X series. But I haven't tried to figure out what's going on there yet.

But this is one of the newest versions of Puppy.

But it is based on the old version of the basic distro. Therefore, despite the increased level of security, it is not particularly necessary to count on new software. Phil disappeared somewhere, I got carried away with Arch instead of Ubuntu (on which Fossapup is based), the others decided to bet on Fossa instead of Jammy again. I'm already having a hard time compiling some emulators (even libraries have to be compiled). Time for Fossa is slowly but fading away.

Well, I tried using the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-525.89.02.run package.

That one compiled and installed with no issues.

Using it now.

So, I guess the results are, Nvidia cannot build a driver package, all the time, that will compile in Puppy Linux.

Depends on the driver package.

So anyone needing a Nvidia driver.
This one will compile and work in F96-CE_4 (Fossapup64 9.6)

Still wonder, how to fix the errors you get, in some of the other driver packages, compiling.

Note:
Tried using NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-375.39.run package and got same errors as topic first post.

Thanks Grey!

@bigpup Maybe you need to contact the author(s) of GetNvidia, with a request to update the program.
By the way, even when assembling drivers up to version 53X, I had to unpack and refine the resulting pet manually. There it was necessary to remove several scripts, replace one with another and also delete a bunch of extra files that were not needed there. As a result of the program, pet always turned out to be large in size.
