Those are the config files, normally found in /usr/local/bin and you can inspect them with a text editor. The content is set by the developer, but of course you can change it.

Re: default application configuration?
I am not using Vanillapup 11
There should be a program for selecting what is the default.
Usually it is in main menu ->Setup ->Set Default Apps or Default Application chooser.
Based on the number of your posts you should know about this program.
Are you asking about the specific config files because you have a problem?
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected

Re: default application configuration?( solved)
11.0.x is in early development and doesn't behave like any other Puppy. Default applications are set via the file manager's right click menu.

right click > go > default or set default? both return nothing in 11.0.50.
otherwise, spaceFM seems like a very capable FM.

Re: default application configuration? Vanilla Dpup 11(solved)
@williwaw spacefm (or any other file manager you use, except ROX-Filer and others that ignore xdg standards) specifies the default application to use for each file type or URL type. defaultbrowser, etc' in this Puppy use the default application - for example, defaultbrowser uses the default application for https:// URLs, defaulttextviewer uses the default application for plain text files, and so on. If you want to change the default application for text files, change it via the file manager and defaulttextviewer will run that application without having to change this script.

yes, thanks Dima that helps. I was mucking around with a portable browser, and without desktop icons, had to change some ways of doing things.
(sorry, I lost track of the post for a bit as someone changed the title and moved the thread here from the user section)
