menu->Exit->Exit to Prompt
shuts down to a black screen with a flashing _ and no prompt.
Nonworking
menu->Exit->Exit to Prompt not working (maybe)

When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.

my problem:
Menu > Exit > Exit to prompt
jump into prompt mode.
type startx,goback to desktop.
Menu > Exit > Restart graphical server
jump into prompt mode.
Menu > Exit > Reboot
Menu > Exit > Shut Down
both jump into prompt mode,and show:
sh: line 0: echo: write error: Broken pipe
Menu > Exit > Exit to prompt
jump into prompt mode.

Update:
I have done a few more things in Fossapup64 9.5
Major one being installed and now using the Nvidia 450 driver.
Done a few shutdowns and reboots.
Now menu->Exit->Exit to Prompt seems to be working OK
???????????

In Puppy the correct command is xwin not startx.
startx may seem to be doing the correct thing, but it is not doing all that is needed correctly.
xwin is actually a command script Puppy uses to start x server and do some other operations as part of correctly doing it.
Using the wrong command could be causing your problems.
