Re: pschedule screensaver on/off commands pls.
What type computer?
Desktop or laptop?
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected

no spot pw, can't install pet.
will try to change permissions. spot is off, was this you or my cpu setting it?
NVMD it fixed it, thx

thanks, but the pets are not what i wanted. i what the screen dark during specific times, with an auto darken if woken in between them. perhaps i wasn't clear.... i want to make sleeping easier without flicking a switch. my timer switch has died on.

Re: pschedule screensaver on/off commands pls.
If your display supports dpms, in pschedule you can try a new job with the command
Code: Select all
xset dpms 0 0 300 dpms force off
with your desired start time to switch off the display and a second job
Code: Select all
xset -dpms
to wake up at a specific end time.
This will enable dpms between the start time and the end time.
While dpms is enabled it will switch off your display again after the given time when manually woke up.
xset dpms force off
turns off the display immediately.
xset dpms 0 0 300
sets the timeout to 5 minutes.
xset -dpms
disables dpms.
Previous setting of dpms, if any, will be overwritten.
Re: pschedule screensaver on/off commands pls.
What exactly do you want to do. Screen blanking (screen saver in Puppy terms) or suspend? It's two totally different things. Screen blanking only switches off the screen whilst suspend puts your machine into a sleep mode. Do you want your machine to come out of screen blanking or suspend mode "automatically" without doing it manually? The previous post is the solution for screen blanking. If it's awakening from suspend I'm not sure because you normally require a manual action (like moving your mouse). Maybe another application like xdotool can do it, not sure.
