fossapup, Hp deskjet 2700 progress and scan (solved)

fossapup, Hp deskjet 2700 progress and scan

HPLIP version is to low to run 2700 so i removed hplip 3.16 and installed hplip_3.21.12+dfsg0-1_amd64.deb from 22.04 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish) and left clicked it in.

The printer works both on usb and wireless for printing but x-sane will not work, with no devices found.

Scanner does work as i can use the HP webpage embedded in the printer to scan page using the printers ip address.

HPLIP printer page says the 2700 is supported.

I want to use xsane for scanning.

1. Install the attached PET. It contains the SANE airscan backend from here. It was compiled in Bionic64 and should be forward-compatible to newer Puppies.

2. Set your Deskjet 2700 on WiFi.

3. Run Xsane. It might take a while to detect the unit. If Xsane gives you multiple choices for a backend, choose airscan.

Thanks works fine

The problem i had was the newer hplip wiped out all the HP utilities needed for wireless scan set up Airscan has cured that and the connection was almost instant.

Simple scan left saned process still working after quit so airscan could not start again so had to kill process, an inexperienced user may not know what to do,

xsane closes saned process on exit

Must thank you again as you have supplied me with printer cures for years.

I am trying to put the later hplip into fossa as an exercise

Excellent. With my Deskjet 2700, the hpaio backend from HPLIP fails miserably with Xsane, PeasyScan and simple-scan, both on USB and WiFi.

But I have had good results with the airscan backend on lots of AirScan-capable units.
