Intel Corporation HD Graphics driver? [Solved]

Hi all

I wanted to know if it was possible to use a dedicated Intel HD graphic driver?

My onboard graphic is the Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530 (rev 06).

Is this already included in Fossapup64 or am I just using a generic video driver at the moment?

Is it possible to download a driver via the PPM?

Finally, how would I activate it so that it is being used?

The player you use may have options for this. Generally the correct card will be used but you can set/enable hardware acceleration and HD hardware support with a player like gnome-mplayer in its video ouput preferences.

I will look/investigate Gnome-MPlayer.

For mpv, type mpv --help in the terminal and see if you can find any commandline options. Otherwise. search for something like "mpv commandline options" on the internet.

My onboard graphic is the Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530 (rev 06).

This graphics hardware is integrated inside of the Intel processor.

Intel only has one driver for all their graphics hardware that is integrated in their processors.
The i915 driver.

Fossapup64 is using this i915 driver, so you already are using the correct driver.
This one is very good and stable.
They finally got it right with this one.

Now, they do make updates to the i915 driver.
But the updates are to support the integrated graphics in their very newer processors and new features they may have.
Sometimes it has a bug fix.

Your Intel graphics is way down on the list of integrated graphics.
A newer i915 is not going to do anything for you.
Unless you are having issues that could be a bug in the driver.

The i915 driver is in the Linux kernel.
Changing to a newer kernel may give you a newer driver.
But because of the age of your graphics hardware, it will probably not be affected, by the newer driver.

I suspect the graphics driver being used is decided at boot time, not by any video player software. Whether hardware acceleration is to be used for that driver is a different matter and that may be selectable in user software such as video players.
