no connection with wpa-psk2 TP-B17 router, open connection only, but router won't degrade encryption.

Try making connection using the Network Wizard.
I assume that is a typo and it is actually the ath9k driver.
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
