Example:
you're in the current save and something went wrong.
So you decided to restore your previously created backup of the save (with the program pupsave backup).

Rename the backed up save to the proper name to make it visible for the system during boot.
Then reboot into it.
The switch to the restored save will happen by the rebooting.

Whether to save session before reboot (in the original save) or not, is up to you
(in other words: is not required).

Him rburkartjo,

let's say you are running with puppyfile-save1.sfs, and also have puppyfile-backup.sfs as a backup.

  1. Copy puppyfile-backup.sfs into the same directory where your puppy-save1.sfs is

  2. Rename puppyfile-backup.sfs to puppy-save2.sfs (the key is to just change the word "backup" to something else")

When you reboot, Puppy Linux should find all savefiles in this directory and show a screen similar to the following

Code: Select all

Puppy Linux Loading. Found 2 save files

1) puppyfile-save1.sfs
2) puppyfile-save2.sfs

Type the number of the savefile you would like to load and use?:

If you type 2, your backup savefile is loaded.

Let's assume that puppyfile-save1.sfs was junk. If you are not booting Puppy Linux with that savefile, you can delete it.

Meeeooow!
