AMD GPU Problems on Boot

Post by FleetingFalcon »

Hi, i'm new so sorry if this is the wrong place to ask :?

I've recently had installed Fossapup and i've been trying to get my R9 380 to work on it to do some light gaming but after loading kernels or loading xorg the monitor image goes off, as usual i've done nomodeset on GRUB but that forces me to use llvmpipe renderer and its seems to be very slow on wine3D, i've also tried installing the Radeon Drivers(through their website) but it said Puppy Linux was unsupported so i'm a bit stumped rn :oops: if available hope i can use an old .pet with amd drivers

List of Parameters i've tried on GRUB:
radeon.modeset=0
amdgpu.dc=0
amdgpu.dpm=0
amdgpu.runpm=0
radeon.cik_support=0 radeon.si_support=0 amdgpu.cik_support=0 amdgpu.si_support=0 amdgpu.dpm=1 amdgpu.dc=1

CPU: Intel G3260
GPU AMD R9 380

Sorry for my bad english and formatting, thank you :D

I do not have Radeon graphics hardware, so I am guessing what you need.

Are you following this information on installing?
https://amdgpu-install.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

For the driver package to download and use.
https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics ... eon-r9-380
Probably need the x86 64 bit one for Ubuntu 20.04.1 or the Linux x86 64 bit one.

May need to also have loaded into Fossapup64 9.5 the following sfs packages.
32bit compatibility sfs
devx sfs
kernel src sfs
Use the quickpet program to get them.
Quickpet->Useful->

After you get these sfs packages downloaded and loaded into the file system.
Try the install process for the radeon driver package.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o
