i had a big deal off trouble installing fossapup on my new Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3.
Its installed now via "nomodeset" in the bootloader - and everything seems to work!
so now the question is if there would be any benefits in installing the 450 nvidiadriver? as i understand the default driver doesnt support the geoforce videocard. does the nvidia 450 driver support and use the card?
i have attached screenshot from nvidia (i tried to install it) it seems it uses the geoforce grahics card?
Im not shure how to test it - and test if the effect is bigger than with the default driver.

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 and nvidia driver
hi @Gnimmelf
you could try running one of these 3d benchmarks https://benchmark.unigine.com/
maybe try the 'valley' one as that's a reasonable download size
once downloaded right click on it ... choose permissions and set to executable
then left click to install.

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 and nvidia driver
so now i tried to run different test basemark 3 and others. the only significant ressult
is hardinfo GPU Drawing 12946,04 default and - 23450 nvivia.
im not shure about the overall reponsivenes if im just doing random surfing on the net.
as you can se in the picture below, there is possibillity to chose "prefer maximum performance" in the nvidia settings. but i cant seem to make the seeting stay on reeboot. if i try to save the setting it doesnt seem to suggest the right place to save - the folder "root". how can i make the system save the "prefer maximum performance" option?
kind regards Gnimm

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 and nvidia driver
when the benchmark is running it will show the FPS (frames per second) & also the graphics card in use in the top right corner.
if it says nvidia then it's using the nvidia card and the nvidia driver is far far superior to the open source nouveau driver
