Hello Mike,

I was wondering if you created a .desktop file for this like you did for "Ungoogled Chromium".

Thanks in advance.

Re: Building Cluster Puppy - made with Woof-CE - all help appreciated!

It says you are missing gawk. Do you have gawk set to "yes" in DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS?

Another thought is that it might not be finding gawk due to the search path. You could try chrooting into your puppy and seeing if gawk is working.

Re: Can you dd fossapup64 to a USB drive? My partial attempt [SOLVED] it worked :)

I formatted the drive by creating a dos partition table in gparted. I ran the dd command without the partion suffix: dd if=./fossapup64-9.5.iso of=/dev/sdc bs=4M the fix-usb.sh script worked with my modificaitons, although it was a bit of a hack. Here is the output: [root@Dpupbuster ~/Downloads] $ f...

hi all i am slowly taking out uneeded packages from the fossapup64 main.sfs by no-ing out entries in the distro-packages-specs file however this is a slow process because i have to test each deletion individually to see if it causes the x server to fail if anyone has an idea what can be removed and...

Can you dd fossapup64 to a USB drive? My partial attempt [SOLVED] it worked :)

I thought I would try to apply the fatdog64 usb install instructions to fossapup64 and see what happens. This of course will only work if fossapup64 is created by isohybird and I think it is. The first step is the dd command: dd if=./fossapup64-9.5.iso of=/dev/sdc1 bs=4M This seems to take quite a w...

Re: Puppy as a portable secure operating system that protects against surveillance and censorship

You can use iptables to direct everything through tor see: https://gitlab.torproject.org/legacy/trac/-/wikis/doc/TransparentProxy However, I recommend only sending encrypted traffic through tor. In other words don't send plain http traffic over tor. Only send https and other protocols with strong en...

Re: minimal modular puppy (from fossapup64)

In a previous post/thread , I wrote about some issue that one might want to consider when deciding how busybox fits into a modularization scheme. I wrote my first draft script. https://pastebin.com/iv1xGxKr I originally thought about basing it on a script I wrote for woof-next that creates a wrapper...

Bottom line = John Murga Forum will remain up and running as a read only archive. The future of how and where is being discussed actively. It would be nice if the John Murga Forum could be kept open for editing. Many Google searches point to posts in that forum and I see a benefit if the OP of such...

Re: minimal modular puppy (from fossapup64)

hi s243a would you consider using the system where modules are manually broken out of isos by scripts rather than trying to rewrite woof-ce there seems to be overwhelming advantages to it and it think it would fit your advanced needs like chroot stuff etc william I will likely try it both ways.

Modularization & Busybox

When thinking about modularization, I realized that how to deal with busybox takes some special care. For instance, if all the symlinks were listed in a busybox.files or busybox.list or whatever a specific package manager uses, then the package manager would have to take special care when dealing wi...

Re: minimal modular puppy (from fossapup64)

Woof is more of a build tool then a development tool. The build process is too time consuming to actually be the principle means of testing changes to a ...

Re: SSH still asking for password even after using ssh-agent on fossapup 9.5

Just to be clear, is it the login password on the remote host that you are being asked for or the password to the private key store on your local machine? I'm guessing in the former case then it likely has to do with the configuration settings of the remote host (ssh server) and in the latter case i...

Re: minimal modular puppy (from fossapu64)

the problem here is not building an initrd that has busybox in it (all busybox symlinks should be in /bin) In the base sfs Fossapup64 doesn't put all busybox symlinks in /bin so I don't think we should change this. However, in the intird woof-CE already does put the busybox symlinks in /bin and thi...
