Re: What is your experience with offline e-mail readers?

Do you store your e-mails/settings in a special way?

Does your distro matter for e-mail?

I dont keep much on the server, so my local archive is rather large. I keep both outside the savefile. works with any pup. mutt is highly configurable. claws-mail is nice too.

Re: What can access my computer

To avoid paying that price involves resorting to using other forms of communications methods - typically other protocols than pretty much Google owned http/https - of which there are many choices but generally that do not offer the same slick look-n-feel experience. please describe the menu you are using to choose your USB at boot time. bios? kubuntu? bionic? if you reinstall bionic on to an ultrafit and just leave the ultrafit always plugged in, there is a boot device menu that you can make come up in the bios by pressing a key at powerup, (should you want to ...

You have bionic on a usb at present? we need to know how you installed it on the usb. "Live" has a couple of different meanings. Can you save your changes in bionic? do you have a save file/ folder on the usb? can you take a screenshot of the top level contents of the usb shown in a file b...

@ bigpup coming from another thread, I think what chase is trying to do is dual boot a puppy, (bionic64?) with an existing kubuntu install on the HDD. The easiest way might be to have bionic64 on a dedicated usb and use the lenovo disc selector to choose the drive at boot time. the next easiest migh...

My Pup boots to ram only, no savefile, no drives mounted (pfix=ram). ....Like others, booting and not saving, using a pre-configured known 'clean/pristine' system is great IMO. Whenever I use other systems where all changes are preserved as and when they occur it almost gives me a cold shiver and t...

you used etcher in bionic to make your mint? you say you had to install bionic again?

mint running slower than puppy does not surprise me, neither does a slow installer in mint.

just curious what are your machine specs Ram? cpu?

Thanks you all for your answers. I was finally able to do it with etcher.

could you tell us a bit more about what you did? Did you create mint by running etcher in puppy?

Big pup sez

Etcher has some problems getting it to work in Puppy Linux.

I thought etcher had problems making puppies?

Re: Learning how to compile from source

It looks like version of dir2pet in easyOS doesn't have as many options. So instead of: dir2pet -s -p=$PKG_Fname -w="File Manager" -c="Filesystem" you can do the following: dir2pet $PKG_Fname That fixed it. The slackbuild script dropped right into Barrys gui version of dir2pet a...

If one wished to utilize legacy laptops in a vnc envrionment such as presented above, does one just need apps that can be run in any puppy?

Would it be worthwhile to have a specialized puppy for the client?

Do the client and the server need the same OS?
