Re: Built and Testing Brand New woof-CE Fossapup64
I know that Debian has some packages that fail at runtime in a non-usrmerge system because they assume something exists in /bin while in reality it's there only when /bin and /usr/bin have the same contents. From my experience, I think that apt is smart enough to detect usr-merged or not-usr-merged...

Re: KLV-Airedale-sr12 with the Void Linux Kernel 6.8.4_1
Anyway, maybe it will work also with KL_full2fr, but I suspect it won't. Reason I think not is that I note the main rsync while loop is searching through loaded sfs files, but full2frugal uses actual uncompressed Linux Mint on main partition as the root_filesystem layer. In fact, seems save2flash i...

Re: KLV-Airedale-sr12 with the Void Linux Kernel 6.8.4_1
Whilst I only tested this in Airedale-sr12 I believe it applies to all KL distros (assuming sr12 uses latest save2flash/snapmergepuppy). Though most users stick with root desktop, I do not always. I believe the script snapmergepuppy also needs the following line at the top: [ "`whoami`" !...

Re: KLV-Airedale-sr12 with the Void Linux Kernel 6.8.4_1
Btw, rc12 doesn't seem to have the latest save2flash installed (has v1.6) , but I tested same as above after installing latest v1.9 and same result, works also fine for me. I will have to double check but I think I updated to save2flash-1.8 in the current sr12 ISO that is available. I will upgrade ...

Re: KLV-Airedale-sr12 with the Void Linux Kernel 6.8.4_1
Lets say you are autologged in as user spot and in directory /home/spot there is a file already embedded in the 07KLV-Airdale-sr12.sfs at location /home/spot/filea (where filea can be any already existing file in that layer of the overlay). Let's say we remove that filea; the result should be a typ...

I have been using the latest version (2.53.18.2) Everything I have tried to do, using it, seems to be working. Though most users stick with root desktop, I do not always. I believe the script snapmergepuppy also needs the following line at the top: [ "`whoami`" != "root" ] && exec sudo ${0} No objection to add that on top of snapmergepuppy, but I think it's not supposed to run sn...

IMO, BookwormPup64 and F96-CE too (edit: probably more suitable for modern computers).

Re: DebianDog Sid (without systemd) + build system (mklive-sid)
Today I tried to upgrade all packages ( apt upgrade ) on my Sid build I made earlier this year. It failed badly  (lots of package were "held" and I couldn't make them "upgrade", tried with aptitude too (as it's able to search for solutions) but no luck). Reason is the ...

Debian Sid , BIG transition
In Debian Sid, many packages have been changed (specially "lib" packages) recently to "64bit-time" (these packages have appended "t64" to the name) See: https://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/64bit-time From what I understand, that (one of the :?: ) reason(s) is to keep s...

Screensaver utility, works with xlock (from package xlockmore) and xautolock ,(both available in Void repo). Originally written by rg66 and Geoffrey, in 2013 (as included in x-tahr). Made many modifications to make it work for KLV: Supported when logged in as user "spot" Does not activate ...

Re: Linux and Puppy versions that support MW's portable apps
What do the people who use other distros do for portable apps? Nothing I guess , the portable apps from Mike are shared in this Puppy forum and probably most are designed to use from Puppy only (edit: some exceptions perhaps, but don't know which) (edit; I hope this time you are not going to call t...

Re: Persistent bug in Rox file manager (fossapup64_9,5)
I think the definition of "bug" is something like "doesn't work as 'advertised', or 'expected', so important is when sharing something is to mention e.g. 'note: works only with that' and 'note that: doesn't work when doing this or that'. So IMO often the whole point is how much detail...

Re: Linux and Puppy versions that support MW's portable apps
It depends, some portable browsers from Mike are setup to run "as-spot" (using the run-as-spot script included in most Puppies). So in that case a distro needs to have a 'spot' user included (and a run-as- spot script) and no mainstream distro like MX or Antix or Ubuntu have it, so won't w...

I think "Do Ocracy" is a bit like 'Anarchy'. With Anarchy, if most people have a high standard of responsibility and love for each other, all goes well, why not?. With "Do Ocracy" it's similar IMO, someone will 'do' something, may get feedback from others, takes it seriously and ...

wiak I tested booting sr12 with Ventoy USB on my very old laptop (from 2007) and it booted fine (only got a very "darkish" screen, but that's another (kernel?) issue). Perhaps interesting to mention: After search for the ISO (was found correctly on sdb1, the HDD is sda) there was a messag...
