assuming still the issue might be with the machine bios: I can get into the boot order if I press f2 at power up. I confirmed that USB is the first in the order. setting the boot order in the setup menus may not be enough to get you up and running. Earlier implementations of efi were often fiddly. y...

I suspect that your bios is trying to decide between mbr boot or uefi boot when it boots the second time. if you press F2 or F12 repeatedly when powering up, can you access a usb selection menu? possible hints here https://superuser.com/questions/624234/toshiba-satellite-l755-key-for-bios-settings?r...

so this converter box can be supplied by 12v car battery, 18-20v powertool battery, 24v truck battery, or even directly by a solar panel with VOC of up to 30v max.

Perhaps I should just move all my portables to an ext4 partition? should you decide to try using a linux partition for your portables. maybe also try using the linux partition for a puppy frugal install. Choose a puppy version you have never used before, and keep its save in the default same subfol...

are you trying to edit .bashrc from the terminal to make the aliases persist? if so, what command are you using?

Turning up the volume, Bass & Treble does make the playback stutter.

The source geany must be opened not closed for you to paste to another editor. ;) But this is Not normal in other linux, only on easy. It IS normal in Linux, standard behaviour for Xorg. Whatever you copy to the clipboard only has the lifetime as long as the application you copied from is still run...

as bigpup mentioned, if you use a name very similar for your backup, prepend your save backup with xxxbookwormpup.

the init can search for saves in various locations and might find a bookwormpupxxx

but I've always thought the most secure setup for chrome type browsers would be to put the portable app in an adrv or remastered into the main sfs in /opt and then delete the cache, remaster and put the chrome user settings in there too. manually pasting in a stanza works, for the short term, but I think the 40/custom solution is presented so that if mx does automatic updates when mx is updated, then the manual puppy paste will not be lost

I would try bigpups suggested /boot/grub/custom.cfg method search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root 30c23802-7ed2-4ced-be51-5cb8668bdfab if your puppy files are in the /Puppy directory next to the MX23 dir also replace /Frugalpup naming with /Puppy if..... /Puppy is actually the name of the install dir
