you used etcher in bionic to make your mint? you say you had to install bionic again?
mint running slower than puppy does not surprise me, neither does a slow installer in mint.
just curious what are your machine specs Ram? cpu?

Etcher has some problems getting it to work in Puppy Linux.
I thought etcher had problems making puppies?

dir2sfs failed, but the renaming in /tmp/SBo completed
ran dir2sfs in /tmp/SBo, took the defaults and
EasyOs dir2fs attached for reference . It's cool being able to utilize slack build scripts. I see a similar thread nearby

the kernel is specific to the architecture, so If your pup-of-choice is developed for the architecture of the machine, then the pets and sfs accessed by the included package manager should work.

If one wished to utilize legacy laptops in a vnc envrionment such as presented above, does one just need apps that can be run in any puppy?
Would it be worthwhile to have a specialized puppy for the client?
Do the client and the server need the same OS?
