Err....."snap"! https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=9700 This of course 'creates' the things... I seem to remember using one of your portable browsers (probably either Opera or Vivaldi) to create QR codes of webpages. It was an inbuilt function of the browser but I dont recall ex...

Using Fossa64-Mid to "de-google" an Android phone

I have been wanting to "De-Google" an android phone and it seems that the needed software is "adb" and "fastboot". ADB is "Android debug Bridge" that talks to the Android phone in a similar way to MTP software (but greater functionality) and "Fastboot&quo...

Re: Running Puppy linux from DVD for classroom

Might be better to save minimal customisations (keyboard, timezone, etc etc) to an sfs (via nicos suite) and customise it into the iso and burning closed dvd.

Then forget about any session saving.

ROX display - force single column??(solved)

When I use ROX I find it annoying when windows resize and the display changes too much - so that files I have been working with jump to strange positions within the display window. I know I can force ROX to "never resize windows" - but it still causes some issues. In particular when I move...

Re: Is running as root a security risk?

So for banking and other sensitive personal use a better choice is to use a Linux distro that is not running as root user. There seem to be plenty of hacking examples impacting companies that already avoid using root user so being non-root user in your own computing is definitely no guarantee of sa...

Re: Puppy linux for classroom

I have two concerns: 1. I've tried some Puppy flavours (Void, Fossa, Jammy) and I see that none of them prompts to remove media (DVD) before shutdown/reboot. How can I fix it. I.e. when my pupils turn-off computer DVD will remain in the drive and I don't want that. I'd have to reboot each machine a...
