Re: Running 64-bit on an OLD machine

I'm using a computer that meets those specs, and another that has 4GB RAM but has the other specs. Over quite a few years,I've "played" with many different Pups (and Dogs), and can't recall having a problem with any. However, my preference is for the "'buntu" type. Presently, Fos...

Thanks for this. Even though I usually only use Windoze once or twice a year, this might come in handy some day.

@mikewalsh Thanks for that article. I felt, overall, that author did an "OK job", of describing Puppy.

@rcrsn51 Once again, I quote from previous page; upper sentence was you, below-was my response. YOU DID NOT answer that. Will return tomorrow to see if I get the reply.
At any rate, if not, I don't intend to continue this.

@rcrsn51 Mainly using FossaPup64, but also VoidPup64, and JammyPup32. No, I've not had a chance to
try that out yet.
Edit: Sorry, I have to sign off now. Thanks for all your help.

Re: HPLIP Print/Scan Drivers

Most definitely I'd like the easier way. The HUGE amount of files to copy to use foo2zjs was the problem I had. I even went to some forums, and google, over in the UK to try and get the ppd, but have not got it.
This, below, is something I came across, but haven't tried it yet:

@rcrsn51 Thanks for the info. I dug a little deeper, and dl'd the .deb for foo2zjs; finally. I have no idea why I could not
find it before!

Re: HPLIP Print/Scan Drivers

@rcrsn51 Actually, if I need to print, I then go to Linux Mint. Way back, I had the ppd for the P1005, but somehow it "got lost" from the several places I had saved it.
I have been trying for quite a while to re-acquire the ppd, but to no avail. I seem to have a problem with the foo2xxx.

Re: nominations for puppy on distrowatch

I go along with @amethyst in selecting FossaPup, as it is a few years newer than BionicPup.
(IMHO, VoidPup may be a little "too much" for a newbie to Puppy.)

Re: nominations for puppy on distrowatch

My two cents worth: Much as I like VoidPup.as I do all of peebee's pups, I don't feel it should be considered. IMHO, a newbie would be lost when, and if, he finally found "pkgs.org/void", to attempt to dl.
