Re: Kirkstone: Want self-updateable Firefox running as user "firefox" and inside sandbox

Huh? Where is the problem? I'm running Kirkstone right now, it has FF 121.0 installed. I clicked on "Download latest Firefox" in the menu, it reported that 125.0.1 is available and offered to update. I accepted, now have 125.0.1. OK, it's not "automatic", you have to choose when ...

Re: I have nothing but praise for GXine...!

Yes, I recall back in the day, liking Gxine.
It handled DVDs nicely; at least that is what comes up in my memory.

I just checked, Gxine project last update was in 2017.
The underlying libxine project is still active, last update Jan 2023.

Re: Touchpad click not working

2.) Is QV not running in RAM, is it so slow because its not running in RAM? Yes. Are you running from a usb flash drive? The apps have to be read from the drive, and a cheap slow drive will cause very noticeable slow app startup. For good performance from a usb stick, use one that is high quality, ...

my experiment with limine also failed to boot when vmlinuz and initrd were in btrfs.
can you choose a non-btrfs partition for this last step?

Yes, Limine version 5.x will only recognize ext2/3/4 and vfat partitions.

If I update Limine to the latest, 7.*, it will only recognize vfat.

Re: Frugal install to partition with QV-installer

I hunted around, found this, saying that grub 2.04 will support btrfs with zstd compression:

https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?53227

Anyway, I have edited qv-installer, changed the text to say that grub 2.06 or later is required, to be on the safe side.
2.06 was released 3 years ago.
