How to change Vanilla Dpup to accept a UTC hardware clock?

This may have been covered before but I could not see it. What I have done so far. 1) Downloaded vanilladpup-11.0.199-labwc-uefi.img.gz to this computer which is running Fatdog64-903 and has its hardware clock set to UTC. 2) Extracted vanilladpup-11.0.199-labwc-uefi.img and dd it to an 8 GB USB ...

Re: Help! I've locked myself out.

Carefully following James' advice has solved the problem. I still do not know what caused the problem in the first place nor why I was unsuccessful in my first attempt to re create my fdsave-ken but the e2fsck may have fixed something. Anyway thanks to James for the solution and thanks to williwaw ...

Thank you both. (Clarity and Step) We have outflanked the problem for now but I will not be able to get back to it four about a month. I will post again with what I finally did then.

Re: How to boot EasyOS from USB stick with secure boot turned on?

Many thanks rcrsn51. It looks like I have a bit of reading to do but could achieve my objective using grub2. I had hoped that someone might have known how to enroll a MOK in Limine :-(
I will post again when I have something to report but I am going away for a couple of weeks so it might be a while.

How to boot EasyOS from USB stick with secure boot turned on?

I have a USB stick with EasyOS 4.5.5 installed on it by "dding" the easy-4.5.5-amd64.img to it and it works well.
Is there an easy way to add some certificate and script etc. so that it could be used to boot a computer with secure boot turned on?

How do I change the password in easy 4.5.5 ? (solved)

I recently installed easy 4.5.5 to an 8 GB USB 3 stick and everything seems to be working well. Unfortunately the first time I booted from it when it asked for a password my finger bounced and I added an extra character in the middle. I did not notice this until I had hit enter and continued with ...

A question regarding boot codes (the distro specific ones)

Puppy specific boot codes are documented in https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=5484 but that document does not cover if the only allowable separation between parameters is a single space or if line feeds can be used to break up long lines. Another question is, does the order of the ...

I have been using google-chrome as my default browser for quite some time. From time to time I run the "Get Google Chrome" installer from the control panel. I have had to rename the file to limine.txt to get it accepted.
You will have to change the uuid according to what you find for your stick.

Re: A very rough and sloppy attempt at using Limine Installer with Fatdog64-812

Hi baldronicus, I have managed to get Fatdog64-812 booted from a usb stick using the limine bootloader that comes with easyOS 4.3. The method was as follows. 1) Download the image file easy-4.3-amd64.img and "dd" it to a 32G Lexar usb 3 stick. This produces a bootable stick with two partitions, the ...

In response to dr_Dan and baldronicus, the "savefile" is indeed a save folder and the savefile= that I used was modelled on the line which works from the SSD on this computer. There three partitions on the SSD the first boots into Linux Mint which provides the grub2 bootloader. A 40_custom file in ...

Many thanks for your postings. I may have to change bootloaders but that would mean starting from scratch. My current USB stick boots four different puppies with no problems. Re: A question about boot parameters

Further to my original questions, how does grub2 find the grub.cfg file in the second partition of the USB stick. The label is, by default "OS" and the uuid is often "0284e81b-569f-40a6-89c6-de69334c4d9d". This depends on whether the second partition was merely re-sized or deleted and re-created ...

A question about boot parameters (Solved)

I am in the process of making a multi-use, multi-OS, bootable USB stick.
