Re: Kernel 6.12 firmware fail - rolldown (fallback) issue - (6.11 too)

Just compiled kernel 6.12.1 - iwlwifi lack of fallback persists. This means (without a solution), anyone who uses a kernel after 6.10.14 with newer iwlwifi will need to have the exact firmware version required, to connect wifi. Major pain. I will try some other wifi devices & see how I go ...

Re: NoblePup64 iso to download?

My install of version 2409 (remastered as low by ozsouth) updated to version 241124 (iso from github). Frugal install to SSD on the 2nd gen i5 Fujitsu S761. No savefile in this install. My LXDE + adrive updated to reflect the name change from 24.09 to 24.11. Running overlayfs in this pup right now ...

Re: Synaptic not working

Luluc - If you are going to run synaptic or apt (I use it in Noblepup64 and VoidPup64) there are a couple of things to keep in mind.

To enable the use of the repos, you must run apt update or use the reload button in synaptic prior to doing a search or install.

Doing so creates some rather large ...

Re: LXQtPup - various Pups with the LXQt desktop

Got it, thanks :!: I did do a fresh install/customize (both LXDE and LXQT) with 7T and it handled my video much more cleanly than my old 6T with savefile. I'll get 8T going shortly. I still prefer LXDE to LXQT, particularly for its' panel setup and stability but I'll give it -and me- a bit more time ...

Re: LXQtPup - various Pups with the LXQt desktop

So far, I can't get the LXQT desktop to launch. Using LXQt-2.1-bdrv_LxPupSc64_23.01.sfs (renamed bdrv_xxxx as usual) in a pristine install of LxPupSc64-23.01+6-T. Re-downloaded both just to check, same results. It's the same LxPupSc64 I've been running on this hardware (Fujitsu S761) for quite a ...

The three browsers I run as portables in all my pups are all chromium derivatives. Brave, Slimjet, and ungoogled-chromium. The current Brave and ungoogled continue to run correctly in fossapup64-small version 5. Slimjet started requiring a newer glibc after version 42.0.3.0 so I keep a copy of that ...

Another question: in the Noblepup64-low thread @Marv said glibc updates have been done. Like him I love Fossa64-small and would like to keep it working with raw photo editors. But new versions of Rawspeed (the library providing the decoders for camera raw files) need glibc 2.35.

In the same vein, I'd wager many of us have a largish partition on the primary SSD (or second SSD) that has data, portables, shared profiles, etc. and is automatically mounted at boot. Re: EXT4 error report from HDD

Fsck can not work on any possible formats.

It is for ext 2, 3, or 4 formats (file systems).

Do not confuse this with what the Puppy boot commands pfix=fsck do.
pfix= commands are specific code for the Puppy boot process to perform.
The line in question called fsck.fat which indeed does check ...

Re: EXT4 error report from HDD

I dimkr I think this is an appropriate place to ask this. In the init script (using Noblepup64 as an example, fsckp is limited to EXT file partitions, ie line 128 is #vfat) fsck_app='fsck.fat -y' ;; . Is there a compelling reason for this? In most of my personal pups, I don't use a save file or ...
