Re: UEFI-Bios & older pup versions, & GRUB vs GRUB2
:welcome: I am not sure exactly when it started and which puppy distro first supported UEFI boot but I can yell you this. Bookwormpup and KDE_Plasma_Void_CE can and will boot on UEFI and Legacy (I have personally tested this). Another thing I want to mention is my laptop can be set to boot on UEFI ...

Re: UEFI-Bios & older pup versions, & GRUB vs GRUB2
@tryPuppy :- I think it's true to say that there is no Puppy produced either now, or in the distant past, that will ONLY boot with UEFI. All Puppies/Dogs/others supported here on the forum can - and will - boot from either MBR or UEFI, starting with the Tahrpups (c. 2014 - about 10 yrs ago). Prior ...

Re: Install Puppy on Ubuntu Linux
I am curious though, formats seem very very similar---can the "custom.cfg" (/boot/grub/) be combined with " /etc/grub.d/40_custom" where other GRUB boot entries can be added? They basically do the same thing in adding boot stanzas to the boot screen. They achieve it in different ways. The 40_custom ...

Re: The Debian-Live Daedalus Starter Kit
Just installed the latest fatdog on sdb2 of my Isobooter disk with the multi-installer. Multi-installer worked exactly as it should. Fatdog booted fine and graphics were correct. Excellent. Did you also try putting the Fatdog ISO on sdb1 and setting it up with ISObooter? In that scenario, you need ...

Re: How is puppy faster and or better?
Seriously, Think about it: What's FASTER: hyper compact car, or a bloated 50 ton tank?!? SMALLER space (size) = faster access, smaller RAM use = boots faster, & again, faster access. Word of caution: sometimes this is wrong. Some of the smaller Puppy releases are xz-compressed so they're smaller on ...

Re: UEFI-Bios & older pup versions, & GRUB vs GRUB2
Read those, but as noted in my DETAILED reply, nothing in there about how to tell which ISOs are BIOS, UEFI, or both.
Also other Q
If you have any links to older versions. (even a little bit) please post.

UEFI-Bios & older pup versions, & GRUB vs GRUB2
Forgive me if somebody else asked/answered this, ( TOPIC search UEFI: 60+, incl text, a lot more!) Setting up even 1 USB (DL, format, install, try boot) takes time, so to do many is many times x. -->> How to tell if puppy ISO is BIOS or UEFI boot?!? Re: How is puppy faster and or better?
Ok I'm actually *new* to puppy---meaning, tried it many many years ago [gave up, switched to Lubuntu then Xubuntu, left, [BOTH also rec for older computers, low resource usage] only just recently trying some again. FYI, recent Xubuntu ver (v22) ~ 2.5 GB ISO 10 GB is outrageous. But if you read ...

Re: Install Puppy on Ubuntu Linux
Just wanted to say, ** THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!! ** I have a Dual boot sys, Xubuntu/Win 7, & 1st (Xu ) part is Ext4 [for many years used Ext3, 4 limits options & compatibility on many things] Didn't want it on /Home, (defeats purpose of 2nd OS that can work on other OS) but was able to ...

Re: Boot Easy OS with GRUB boot menu
1st, NONE of the hints about trying it are of any help, when can't even get it to BOOT! I have EasyOS on USB, but again, can't get to boot. Ironically, also having same problem w Ventoy, (on separate USB) ---that's a multi-boot USB from https://forum.puppylinux.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u ...

Questions about booting Easy OS with GRUB boot menu
1st some info: Been using linux (mostly Xubuntu) 4 years now, but (vision/headaches/health/etc) still really don't like terminal, prefer GUI where possible. [tiny print too hard 2 read!] [if some of these R in wrong section, where to ask?] oh, mostly use XFCE desktop, but willing to try others IF ...
