Re: New 32 Bit Puppys for Low RAM

Welcome Opi5b ! While I haven't used Atomic Pup, I did save my old Acer Aspire One AOA150 with an Intel Atom CPU and 1gb RAM from the dustbin! I've been using various versions of peebee's Slackware based puppies as well as an older Arch based one, all 32 bit. However, I do use it on the internet sti...

Xenial is much older than Fossa and Tahr. It was put together prior to those file systems becoming a tad more commonplace.

Re: Web browsers and quickpet

Because Quickpet is exactly what it says it is...it doesn't do any checks to see what is installed in your system, it just goes ahead and downloads whatever you tell it to. Now, once it is downloaded, the installer MAY note that the user already has a package installed, in which case it should ask f...

Perhaps a less confrontational method, instead of denigrating someone's chosen service, would be to contact them directly and tell them of problems you are havng downloading something from their service, perhaps make suggestions as to sharing preferences that their service may have that are not the ...

Yep, sluggish here in OK, USA as well. At one of the other forums I moderate we have had a huge spike in automated bot spams, running into the hundreds of spam posts per hour. Does the forum server maintain a "robots.txt" file? If so, it could be edited to block AI bots like ChatGPT for a time period and see what the access times are with them blocked. If there was no difference, could remove the blocks...if there were a noticeable improvement, keep them and ref...

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

I don't know if it is even possible, but to me it seems we need to have some idea of how many new users "find" Puppy Linux on DistroWatch. I know from my own experience that DW was NOT where I went searching for something to replace the old Slax 6.1.2 I had been running on my old Acer Aspi...

Re: Is Thorium the fastest Browser in planet Earth?

Thorium is based on an older version of Chromium. In my experience older versions of Chromium are quite a bit faster (on older machines at least) than the newer ones. I use the latest Brave (Chromium based) with Fossa9.6 and Chromium version 90 (older) with Jammy. The older version is very fast. Th...

Re: How to use 2007 MacBook wireless card?

This may be going out on a limb here, but it seems to me that you are encountering the same issue I did with an old Acer Aspire One netbook... specifically that the newer Linux kernels (mostly 5.X) had deprecated support for the older WiFi chip in the netbook (Atheros 5.XX), note that my Acer netboo...

IIRC, you are booting and running Puppy from a CD, correct? If when you burned that CD and "finalized" or closed it, you cannot use any unused space on the CD to save anything to, whether that be a savefile/savefolder or creating an ISO. You can only utilize a mounted partition on a separa...

Why are you turning off your powered USB hub? It's no wonder everything quits working, you've effectively disconnected them!
Might as well power down, then just reboot when you come back...don't turn off the USB hub until AFTER powerdown!
