I'm not entirely convinced an answer is required. But maybe my 'A.I. radar' is getting a bit excitable. Who knows.

Re: Persistent bug in Rox file manager (fossapup64_9,5)

This would probably happen with any file selection dialog with any application. You select a different file, and the entry changes. As this is a download, you can only get back to it by closing the box and selecting the link again. It has nothing to do with rox. But yes, not a very useful right-clic...

I think you probably have the right one:
ftp.vim.org/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/pupp ... -common64/
Someone probably just got fed up typing it out in full. It has the right-click options.

Posting from it now. Had to use a rather slow Toshiba USB stick, but it booted without problem. Re: GHC haskell problem

Hello and welcome rowhat1 Could you tell us which version of Puppy you are using, and how you installed GHC. I downloaded this one: https://downloads.haskell.org/~ghc/9.8.2/ghc-9.8.2-x86_64-deb11-linux.tar.xz and installed it successfully on Fatdog. Can't see why it wouldn't work on Puppy versions. ...

Re: How to open all windows at bottom of screen?

If you are actually talking about desktop icons then why not do it the easy way and click on 'show desktop'. Click on the icon you need then restore the desktop again.
Otherwise use JWMdesk to make a taskbar at the top.

Re: MediaTek Wifi Driver Issue

I had to abandon the compile on EasyOS as it froze. As you noted, there was no output files to be found anywhere while the compile was running, but no error messages either. For comparison I tried it in the same way on Fatdog. Again, 'make' worked without any producing errors. Ran quicker, but event...

Re: MediaTek Wifi Driver Issue

Have you downloaded the devx.sfs? This has the bulk of the tools/programs needed for compilation. It is also better to install it in the 'Main' filesystem, rather than in a separate container, as you have to make sure you have your source files in the right place, else they won't be found. EDIT I ma...

Re: FATDOG, HDMI, Audio, ... future

ls does not tell you it is an executable. It is a .wav file, and does what .wav files do. Even gives the expected error when you try to run it like an executable. I'm really confused as why you even wanted to try that. It is in a directory called 'sounds' for a start.

Re: FATDOG, HDMI, Audio, ... future

There isn't anything to investigate really, it's a .wav (audio) file, not a binary. Just click on it and it will play.

Re: Cortile - auto tiling manager

The gap around the windows can be altered here:

Code: Select all

# How much space should be left between windows (0 - 100).
window_gap_size = 0

Set to 0, there is no space, default is 10.
Maximise windows should work as normal when set to 0. Tested on Openbox.

If you move the mouse pointer to the bottom left or right corners, you can make the master window bigger or smaller, which can be handy. The increment can be altered in the config.

Cortile does not detect the JWM tray, so the bottom of windows are hidden behind it. You need to download and install the devx sfs, using SFSGet. Once installed, just type python in a terminal, and off you go. As for IDEs, I couldn't recommend anything, but do you really need one?

@greengeek

I would settle for something that displayed the title bar of each window

Right click on the title bar and select shade/unshade (JWM). It will retain the original position of the title bar. It can also have a keyboard shortcut.
