Re: BarryK reported 'Surgery on eyelid'

I had an uncle, now deceased, who accidentally put out one of his eyes when he was a child. He seemed to do ok with just one eye. Grew up on a farm, played sports in high school, drove a car, finagled his way into the Marines for 4 years as a heavy equipment mechanic and worked as a mechanic until ...

The forum is pretty slow to react at the moment, for me. Takes maybe 20 seconds, as opposed to the more typical 1 or 2 seconds.

Re: Email sent to Administration looking for Help

I don't know what he means by 'change browsers', but here's how I do it:
Download Firefox from Mozilla.org and move it to an appropriate location. (I use /, to make it easy to find.)
Unpack (unzip) it
Make the resulting Firefox directory executable. (In Rox, just right-click on the directory ...

Re: USB keyboard and mouse stop working after a while. Does anybody know what's happening? (BookwormPup64 10.0.9)

This has happened to me, years ago in various versions of Puppy Linux. I never figured out the cause, but I suspect it was Firefox. You can use the latest version of Firefox without installing anything. Just go to Mozilla.org and download the latest version of Firefox for Linux. Unpack it and make ...

Re: How To Make a Swap Partition Run On Start UP?

Maybe it doesn't any more, but I think Puppy Linux used to look for a swap partition when it booted, and use it if it found it. Can you reboot and see if your Puppy OS is using the swap partition?

Re: Files selecting "from - to"

The only way I've ever done it in Rox is to left-click a little above the first file or directory, hold and drag down to below the last file or directory that I want to include. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right spot to begin.

How long were you working on that post? The old forum originally had a timeout period of something like an hour. If nothing happened by then, it would log you out even if you were working on a post. It wouldn't know that until you sent the post. A lot of people complained, so the timeout period was ...
