Re: Will Puppy support Dell B2360dn laser printer?

A year or two ago I bought an HP laser printer from Best Buy. I intended to connect my (Puppy OS) computer to the printer with a USB cable, but it turned out that the printer wouldn't work unless I first connected the printer to the Internet. I had to download an HP "app" to my phone, then give it ...

I've never heard of SLIMJET. I went to their website and they've got my attention. I might try it. How do I install it on EasyOS?

@szept, for best results, please start a new thread about Slimjet.

Re: Browsers clogging up

Have you tried restarting the X server? You'll have to restart the browser afterwards. You don't say which browser you're using. If it's Firefox, it will remember all the tabs you had open and ask if you want to resume where it was when it was closed.

Re: usbhd and usbflash: how much difference to flash lifetime?

As I understand it, write-erase cycles cause flash memory cells to gradually lose their ability to say for sure whether they contain a 1 or a 0 when read. Flash memory manufacturers incorporate "wear leveling" algorithms in their built-in controllers to spread the use around the memory so that all ...

If you're comfortable with taking the laptop apart, I'd say remove everything you can, especially the RAM, blow the dust out and put it back together. Just removing and replacing the RAM might do the trick.

Thanks for the clarification. :)

Rather than let the 'find' script delete the files, it might be prudent to instead have it move them to a directory where they could be inspected before deletion.

Clicking the "Last Modified" column in Rox might concentrate all the new files together, making it easy to select all of them and then delete them.

The bzImage located in arch/x86/boot/bzImage must be ...
