Re: Installed NVIDIA 340.108 Drivers - Display now completely overscanned
This could be how Nvidia X Server Settings program is detecting the monitor and what it offers for settings. It is detecting my monitor make and model and this monitor is providing settings it can use. In X server display configuration What does it have in selection: Does it give you anything you ...

Re: Installed NVIDIA 340.108 Drivers - Display now completely overscanned
I used QuickPet to install NVIDIA drivers Did you install only one of the drivers and only one of them??? If you installed more than one driver that will mess up the install. The nvidia driver has to only be one specific driver and only that driver. If you want a different driver. The Nvidia driver ...

Re: Installed NVIDIA 340.108 Drivers - Display now completely overscanned
But 'overscan'.....no. TBH, I'm not even sure what this is. Am I right, when looking at the image you've supplied, in thinking that you're running a CRT monitor there? 'Cos it sure looks like it to me. If it is, I'm pretty sure that such things always used to have adjustment controls for overscan ...

Installed NVIDIA 340.108 Drivers - Display now completely overscanned
I will preface by saying, yes, I'm using an old ass PVM and that it is a source of constant issues (which is part of the FUN). I used QuickPet to install NVIDIA drivers so I could get better colour depth and resolution support for my 8600gt and now my display is completely overscanned; I can't see ...

Re: No KMS on Frugal installation on HDD
or just add nomodeset to the current stanza. I did this and it worked! I've been at this for weeks messing with different OSes, removing RAM sticks, swapping SATA cables, etc. Thank god for Linux and users like yourself! do you have any computing interests other than an ordinary User may ...

Re: No KMS on Frugal installation on HDD
For sbd1 (the USB stick), there is a grub.cfg file that contains: insmod part_acorn insmod part_amiga insmod part_apple insmod part_bsd insmod part_dfly insmod part_dvh insmod part_gpt insmod part_msdos insmod part_plan insmod part_sun insmod part_sunpc loadfont /boot/grub/font.pf2 set gfxmode ...

Re: No KMS on Frugal installation on HDD
I think it's Grub4DOS, but I can verify that for you; how would I check? I can only boot with the USB if I select, fossapup64 9.5 - No Kernel Mode Setting. If I try to boot just fossapup64 9.5 from the USB I get a black screen and have to restart my computer. My issue is that I don't get the option ...

No KMS on Frugal installation on HDD(solved)
The only way I can seem to get Fossapup64 to boot on USB is by launching it in No KMS mode, otherwise I get a black screen. I don't see the same option on the internal HDD where I have a frugal installation. This particular computer also got a black screen when trying to run Windows 7, but works ...
